Okay, I just got back from a local chain store today, and was impressed with some of the new stuff they had. In specific, I noticed two kick ass handhelds. A TurboExpress priced at $139.99 :eek 2: and it's Japanese counterpart, the PC Engine GT for only $49.99 @_@ . Both are in great condition, with almost flawless screens.
Now, I'm not even considering the Express, but the GT is one hell of a deal! The reason why I made this topic is that I'm not very knowledgable with NEC's system compatabilities.
Can Turbografx-16 Hu Cards run on a PC Engine GT without any sort of cheat device or system modification? What I'm aksing is, is there a lockout feature on this system? I sure hope not, I need this thing!

No they can not. There are 8 pins on the card edge that are in a different order for each region. Keep searching eBay for the word "kisado" and eventually you will come up with the Kisado Converter. Expect to pay between $85 and $120US for it. There are other converters, but they are flaky and don't always work.
Still, that GT is a hell of a deal.

My TurboExpress is packed away - I use the PC Engine GT instead. Sure, you can't actually play TG-16 cards on it, but you CAN play the far more expansive library of PC Engine Hucards. Really... how many US-only games do you care about? PC Engine games are almost always cheaper too.
My advice: grab the PCE GT and collect PC Engine Hucards. Trust me, it's the way to go.

I wholeheartedly second Joe on that one. Almost everything available on Hucard in the US was available in Japan for the PCE first, and the games are ususally much cheaper. Plus, anything US exclusive sucked anyway!
