I went to a yard sale the other day and got a model 2 sega cd. I got it home, and tested it out, and found it to be working. I do not remember exactly which AC adapter I used, or which genny, but it turned on and worked.
2 days later I test it out one more time before I sell it, and now I cant get it to power on no matter what. I tried many different genesis, model 1 and 2's as well as different AC adapters. It still wont turn on.
The only thing I can think of is when I sold a SMS lot with an AC adapter, and possible used that adapter and it worked with the sega cd, which I no longer have.
Or maybe because I removed the metal plating from the genesis what was attached to the sega cd? I am clueless, anyone think they might know?

Sounds like your adapter, as i use the same adapter for SMS and Mega Cd like you mentioned (i just swap them round when needed)
However, it oculd be the usual fuse problem if you blew it with a too powerful PSU...

I've had a model 2 sidecar style that constantly would not fire up. after cleaning both connectors a few times it was good. It had been in someones garage for a while.
I'll bet you blew the fuse though.. not so bad and thank god Sega knew people would have power supply issues and did the right thing.

probably did blow the fuse, because any sega brand AC adaptor should work right? oh well...

well if the power connector is loos and not making a good connection that also would keep it from powering up
i have procured 16 genesis systems and most of them had that very problem - just needed to re solder the power connector
so if you wiggle the power connector (with PS plugged in) and you see something going on then its probably the connector

I've fixed enough SegaCDs with this exact problem. Its not the power connector, its the fuse. It probably blew when a higher-powered power supply was plugged in.
Use the same one as the Genesis 1... NEVER use a NES one.

NES AC
I used that with one of my SCD2 suystems, and did i regret it!
My SCD2 was dead for 2 months.
After installing a new fuse, it worked like new.
