I'm out of town so I probably can't reply to this thread, but I'll check up on it when I get back and have a moment.

Is this as interesting as I think it is? The sticker on the controller is kinda rubbery, not the usual material for a controller sticker.

Not for trade. Mine. The closest I'll come to a cart, eh?

Is the controller white against a white background? All I see is white. :hmm:

Looks like regular style rectangular NES controller with the NWC logo above the Select/Start button. Lousy picture though :/

But it's defiantly unusual. I was at NWC (Cobo hall, Detroit, Mar '90) and I don't remember NES controllers like those. I didn't get past the first round though, just a couple hundred points shy for my age group :P Maybe those sticker came from somewhere else and someone put it on the controller?

Good chance that was some stickers that was put on the joypad.

Remember in the early 90's, Nintendo release a series of stickers which you can put on joypad, console, even on the 1st Gen Gameboy.

It's possible it's a sticker, though it's a much thicker rubbery substance than the stickers. And there were stickered controllers nearby where I found it that looked totally different. Those have an old (original) sticker underneath the sticker, and this one has no underlying sticker.

Sorry about the pictures- I was hurrying to provide something for you to look at. I don't have a scanner and my digital camera isn't good at close range. Excuses, excuses.

I would have expected someone to ID this. Another thing that makes me suspicious that it's real is the big number 2. Sure a sticker could have said this, but I'm not sure that any of those stickers did.

BTW, anyone have an unused set of those controller sticker sheets?

And finally I had another goofy find recently. 'The Offical Nintendo Sticker Album' which has a very similar look to the original black strategy guidy. Can provide pix if you guys haven't already seen that a million times (hopefully better.)

I'm no expert, but if it was a sticker, why would a kid number his controllers?

Looks to me like ianoid has a true conversation piece. Nice find! :P

looks like something that would be used that the championships to me. i've never seen one before, but it makes sense with the number 2, they wouldn't want the kids grabbing the opposite controllers and thinking they're each others screen.
did fluke ever sell his hands free controller? i wanted that one on ebay but couldn't afford it. gundam_pilot got one on ebay for 15 he said a while ago.

I thought I won the hands free controller cheap too. However, when I got it, it was obviously not new. Should I just leave negative feedback, or try to get some money back?

Ok this is my first post to this group, so bear with me ;) In a far away land (actually Valley Forge, PA)... Long long ago. (Actually 1993 I think it was) a young boy named Frank (me) participated in the Nintendo World Championships. There were 50 kiosks setup on the huge show floor, each one with a seperate number assigned to them. They would lead in the next group of competitors to stand in front of them and attain a minimal score. The details escape me, but if I recall correctly you had to obtain a certain score in order to qualify to play in the semi final round on the BIG SCREEN (ala "The Wizard" altho not quite as HUGE") Some Nintendo game counselor type guy would come around and give you a sticker telling you that you were to hit the big screen. ANYWAY, back to the POINT. There were numbered kiosks on the floor for the NWC, and even tho I can't 100% remember if the controllers were numbered as well, I would say you have a damned good shot at owning one of the rarest peices of history in videogamedom.

Lexicon has a nintendo controller with neon orange and yellow dpad/buttons but that's a more "built in difference" then the sticker one. I don't know what either of these are anyway! O_O

I too went to the NWC and I don't remember the controllers looking like that at all. Maybe because I was young and just had a bone because I was even there, but hey, looks legit to me.

And yes, I am AMAZED how low that hands-free controller went for.

I think that is one of the repair kits that were sold for the NES controllers. I know Radio Shack had some a while ago.

They are probably from Radio Shack. I do remember a few kits for replacing worn pads and buttons. I don't think anyone's betered to make a kit for later console as seeing a new 1st party controller could be bought for only a few dollars more.

What did the hands free controller look like, and how did it play?

The pictures's still up at the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1946743387&category=3605

Basically you control the direction with your chin, and use sip and puff for A and B. Can't remember how to use Start or Select ad I don't remember which issue of Nintendo Power featured this. What I do remember was that the package of HFC plus NES deck was like $300.

Ok for most games but I'd advise against games like Gradius or Life Forse, you'd be out of breat by the time you get to the first boss. LOL LOL

That HFC is the best.Still I can't believe it only went for $50. :o :D @_@
