We see em all the time and most of us who know better just skip to the next one , but thats just not enough. People are still buying them and that just makes it worse for all of us.
You know what I am talking about
FAKE protos.
Now some are more deceptive than others but in my book its either REAL or its NOT. If its not it better damn well be stated from the get-go.
Today I'd like to show you an example of what I am talking about.

COKE WINS by Atari. Now there is a game most don't see everyday. Sent to only employees at Coke this is one must of us have never seen and thus eager with greed and a quick BIN spree might end up making a mistake.
One of the first steps one should take when encountering a proto is a checkup of the seller.
Seller (rating) a1toner@innernet.net(652)
He has very decent feedback 752 postivies 5 neutrals 3 negatives.
So far.....So good.
So lets see what else he is selling....195 items mostly arcade related. Hmm looks like he sells REPRINTS of arcade manuals http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3947&item=3201004825
Guess his name A1toner gives it away huh? At least he had the decency to state so in this auction. Look how many other Atari eproms he is attempting to sell. This guy is new when it comes to the Atari 2600 though, just look at this one.
SUPER BASEBALL min bid $14.99 with a BIN of $16.99

Who would pay 15 bucks for an original let alone a eprom copy which DOES NOT include the board required for play.
This is as close as he comes to admitting the truth of the situation here "Requires desoldering and soldering of new eprom."
Mark my words, once this guy figures out no one wants common eproms he will slap them on a board and try again. Remember that sellers name for the future.
If it looks to good to be true don't buy it.
I'm outta here.
