Just got this game for the 5200. Never played it before, never heard of it until a few years ago. I didn't get any instructions with it, but I figured out what the basic premise is, and the controls were easy enough to figure out. I do have some questions.
Is there a point bonus for sealing blocks in RED with the 'slow' button, as opposed to the fast speed that encloses blocks in BLUE?
Was this an Arcade game back in the 80's? I never saw it if it was, and I was one of those 'live-in' customers of the local arcade.
One other thing, I've figured out how to trap one of the stix, and it gives you a points multiplier. Are there any other tips for the game I should know about?

Yes, you do get extra points for making boxes with the slow button, but it's also harder since you can't move as fast to avoid the qix. And it was indeed an arcade title from the early 80s.

You pretty much figured it out on your own, and that is the sign of a superb arcade game. The version for Gameboy is very cool.

I've never played the 5200 version, though I was addicted to it first on the C-64 (I think it was called Sqix there) and then on the NES. How does the 5200 version compare?

You should try it's future arcade variants such as GALS PANIC or Miss Nude World 96 LOL :)

The 5200 version is almost arcade-perfect. It also has the advantage of having 4 different skill levels. You can read a review for it under "Reviews (5200)" at this very website- there are some screenshots, too.

@Gunstar: the best tip is to draw several SMALL blue boxes to divide the screen up to the point where you can trap the Qix in a very. very tiny area. If you want, you can divide the screen in half, then in half again, ad infinitum. The key is to NOT fill in any of the big areas until the very end. Then, draw in the last line in RED. You'll fill in 99% of the screen with RED in one move and get a ton of extra points. Repeat.
