This seller is selling off 2 copies of Stadium Events he "got from an auction", one of them is supposedly boxed. There's numerous reasons why nobody here should bid, namely:

1) He's been on for less than 30 days, and all his feedback is from buying 99 cent ebooks and other garbage over the last 2 days.

2) His pictures are liften from here: http://www.nesplayer.com/features/didyouknow/

The auctions:
http://cgi.ebay.com/STADIUM-EVENTS-NINTENDO-NES-GAME-RARE-NICE-GAME_W0QQitemZ8209821842QQ

http://cgi.ebay.com/STADIUM-EVENTS-NINTENDO-NES-GAME-RARE-NICE-GAME_W0QQitemZ8209821947QQ

I haven't been able to find a post about these auctions here, so I'm hoping nobody was hoping to snipe. :D

I've asked him if he could take a picture of his actual carts/box, but I doubt he'll respond.

I think this belong in the "everything Ebay" forum.
But I would also think its fake. It seems that be bought alot of cheap ebooks just get feedback.
Unless I get a real picture of the game or any other proof I wouldnt take the chance to bid.

I too have been watching this auction very closely. It looks very sketchy to me.

1. He has been on less than a month
2. The pic is fuzzy and is a duplicate picture for both
3. Obviously a cut and paste job on the screenshot

I probably want this more than most on this forum, but BEWARE if you are going to bid on it. I am just really hesitant on anything that is as rare as Stadium Events with VAGUE descriptions. It is also espically evident that this person does not know jack squat about games.

Someone needs to inform that web site that thier pictures are being used in the auctions. That is against E-Bay policies, and will more than likly get the auctions pulled. I also asked for more pictures.

I've e-mailed him a couple of times requesting pictures. His response was that it was already packaged. I then asked him what if a buyer buys multiple items, wouldn't he have to repackage and thus it would be ok to open it back up. Lame response there.

Finally, this morning I told him I'd be willing to bid an unreal amount of money but I would need to see a picture of the cart with the box and another of their backsides. Waiting for response.

I am surprised its not already in the Everything Ebay forum yet. I would have put it there but I didn't want to draw to much attention to it especially since it seems extremely clear that they are fake auctions.

Here's the response that I got: "sorry im working all day
and this item is packed up and ready to ship". I wish I knew that these are real, as I would place a bid also,

How hard is it to unpack a NES cart anyway? Especially when it will be sold for hundreds of dollars. Something shady is going on here. :hmm:

It clearly looks like a fake auction. Maybe he listed them to drive up views on his other items? But I am always giving people benefit of the doubt.

I just asked him about me paying and picking it up if I won the auction,, he said "no local pickups sorry
had a very bad experience once with that"

This is how I usually test seller,, no local pick up, cause he aint got shit.

This is DEFINITLY a scam. Cmon if you are putting away a possible bidder on your item that will go for alot of money just because you dont wanna cut the tape on a box and retape it for pictures, then you are definitly pulling some strings.

THIS IS DEFINITELY FAKE!

I asked him for a picture of the box two days ago, but of course, NO REPLY.

And yes, I also checked his eBay feedback and way too many cheap 0.99 cent items like aforementioned.

While this should be in the Everything eBay Forum, but:

No local pick up?
No more pics because:
a) You don't want to break an envelope?
b) You work all day?
:hmm:

Well, can somebody tell the eBay authorities about this little issues?

I just emailed the seller:

I will pay you $2000.00 for both Stadium Events games and all your other games providing you can provide real pictures of the Stadium Events games. I want you holding a paper with your handle-name in one hand and the games in the other.

It won't get pulled because the feedback is legit; he did buy all those cheap ebooks. That, and we can't prove the guy's trying to scam people. It's our word against his.

i think they are both fake auctions and who the he77 wouldn't want local pick up? less work if you ask me. no pictures? as for him not wanting to unpack the game... he can repack it in a free USPS PRIORITY BOX and ship for 3.85. if someone really wants to, they can email all the bidders and warn them of whats yet to come. i hope we are all wrong and the winner gets his/her purchase.

I have once get a legitimate seller, who did not want pickup there. Because he has had people not showing up, etc. Thought, I guess for very big dollar deal, that will be interesting. (That same guy thought, I met him near my job and house because I then bought a lot of thing from him, but he was kinda impulsive on email)

However -- Those auction really get a red-flag, especially having two stadium events, same picture, taken elsewhere... it is a big bet :)

mickoz
08-06-2005, 06:40 PM
Maybe that guy has got some PAL stadium events and will try to make that pass as legitimate? I won't bid on the auction, unless that guy provide real picture. However I guess none of you received a response. Let's see what happen of that.

First, the chick in your avtar if fucking hot ;)
I think he means that if the seller provides a picture with some text written on the side it would proof that its legit. If he doesnt, the chances are much bigger that he doesnt have the game.

But I can almost guarantee that the game is fake. I asked if he could give me another picture because the one he used now was taken from the internet. Then he replied that he took the picture himself. That is not true.

If you look closely on the picture from http://www.nesplayer.com/features/didyouknow/ and compare it with the one in the auction you see it exactly the same. Check the light details, exactly the same.
Only diffrent is that he have a small camera icon down right.

So why would he say that he took the picture himself when its 99.99% chance that he didnt do it?

Another theory might be that he list the games so his other auctions will get more hits. Another seller did this not too long ago when he listed alot of rare games like cheetahmen 2, stadium events and all the panesian titles.
He pulled the auctions right before they ended. So I wouldnt be too suprised if this seller also pulls his auctions before they end.

mickoz
08-06-2005, 08:34 PM
I thought of that eventually too. Someone wanna bid if that seller will pull the plug before end. 30 minutes left. Hurry up. I give you 0.5 for 1 if you win. ;-)

godsey1
08-06-2005, 08:54 PM
The camera icon is from when you list a picture through E-Bay's picture service. On the picture on the gamming web site, you'll notice that the border of the picture at the bottom is wedge shaped, the pictures in the auction has the same wedge shape X_x

There is no way that the seller owns this game. He/she probabley saw that it was a rare game on the NESplayer website, stole the pic from that site and then listed it on Ebay claiming they had it.

First :

It may not be smart , but it is insulting to call other forum members "stupid as all hell!!! "

We are not gamefaq you know

Second :

I sent an e-mail to the buyer to warn him about the possibility of it being fraud and he said the following:

" I just want you to know that it's great to have such an awesome EBAY community who looks out for each other. The fortunate thing about this situation is that I am within driving distance 40 mi.so I can physically pick up the item and if the Ebayer in question refuses my right to pick up and pay in cash I will also think that it is a scam and he will not be paid.Either way I will be sure to let you and the others know of the outcome.Thank you all very much for the info and concern.
Sincerely Bill "

So I hope he gets the item. But at least he is armed with knowledge now 8-)

So the seller can bump bids w/o anyone knowing or realizing its being done. This would also answer why the price is higher than normal.

2 questions,

1) someone mentioned the buyer of the first Stadium Events (the one that went for 405.00) could be a "chillbidder" ... what does this term mean?

2) the second auction, by the private seller, how can he/she bump bids without anyone knowing? Please explain.

Thanks!!

-Curious eBayer

dieourumov
08-07-2005, 08:44 PM
by "bump bids" they mean shill bid, which is against ebay's terms of service. ebayers cannot easily report this item for shill bidding if it looks very suspicious so it's up to ebay to catch it on their own, which is very unlikely.

bizbiz
08-07-2005, 08:51 PM
OK, but what does "shill bidding" mean???????

dieourumov
08-07-2005, 08:54 PM
shill bidding is when a seller creates an alternate username to bid small increments at one time to max out people's proxy bids in order to drive up prices. this is against ebay's policy and leads to suspension if caught.

imanerd0011
08-07-2005, 09:32 PM
Captain Nintendo,

I guess what I said was a little harsh, but bidding on that item after everyone on this site has been warned isn't a very good idea. I don't have tons of money to throw around, so when I see someone willing to toss away hundreds of dollars it upsets me a little.

I'm glad that the winning bidder has been warned, but I thought someone else asked about local pick up and the seller said no (obviously), but maybe he said he would do it for the high bidder. Who knows.

BizBiz

Shill bidding is when the seller bids on his item himself (or has a friend/other user he knows) bid on his item to raise the price, without the intention of buying it. I have felt like I was on the receiving end of a few shill bids in my day, but I'm not 100% sure, so I never did anything about it. The problem is it is VERY hard to prove, so most of the time the seller gets away with it (I think).

And when you see an auction like those people get excited and full themselves into thinking that the deal is real and its just a good deal that everyone thinks is gonna be a fake. Its not their fual they just might not know how many rippers are really out there. when i first started trading and getting on the NET i got ripper a top loader. A guy said he would trade me bubble bath babes for my top loader and genny 3. Well i was ripped because i was very gullible and didnt think it could happen. I got outbid on the item, but the seller then offered me a second chance offer. He did then send me a pic of the box. The box was of a PAL version. I then thanked the person for sending me a picture of the box, and then declined stating that it was not the US version of the item as his auction stated. I recommended the person to repost the item using the pics he sent me. He may of not known, I am giving him the benifit of the doubt. At least he sent me honest pics, I give him credit for that! But anyways after many long forms of mai fraud reports he finally sent most of my stuff back like 6 months later lol.

He e-mailed me 4 weeks before he even posted these auctions. He told me he had just picked up 900 games and was looking to sell them for $2 a piece. I asked for a list of titles or pictures in blocks of 50 and that was the last I heard from him. I honestly believe he has the games and agree with others that he does not have any idea about NES items.

Here's the e-mails I got from him:

Hi there
I have 1000 games that I am looking to sell.
are you interested? Please let me know asap $2.00 each

My response

Yes I am very interested. Can you please supply me with a complete list of titles and a general description of the lots condition? Photos would be appreciated as well.

Thanks, 8bitnes

His follow-up

ok I have 900 games that
i need to sell. I would like $2.00 each.
they are mixed. There are 20% sports games
like hockey, baseball, and such
and there are 80% good games...you know titles like dr mario, monopoly, and such. I took pictures but I cant list all 900 titles...Do you want to call me? and I can go over them
or how do you want to do this ? I need to know ASAP as I want to get them out of here
thanks DJ

My response

Send the pictures. If there are about 50 games per picture I should be able to distinguish titles well enough.

Thanks

HOLY CRAP some of you guys are WAY too trusting. Put the facts together

1) He has refused to do local pickup on the SE's, yet when someone asked if he would do local pickup on one of his other items he says yes... This right here is 100 pct proof that he's a ripoff artist. I doubt he's that desperate for the 5 dollars shipping.

2) All his pics have been ripped from websites. He then claims he took the picture himself. When asked to provide other pictures he says the item is packaged already. When offered huge amounts of money if he could provide more pictures he says he works all day and he doesn't want to open the package.

3) Account opened a month ago with only feedback being 99 cent E-books. In other words he wanted to pump up his feedback fast so he can start scamming.

4) He tells one guy he bought a lot of 900 NES games, he tells another guy he bought a lot of 400 NES games which somehow contains two SE.

If this guy is legit I will pee on my own face and accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior. Are some of you so desperate to get a rare game that you would forgo all logic and common sense?

Stadium Event for some collectors is probably like having PMS for some girls. Like you said, it removes all logic and common sense.
