N64 Controller Problem

I bought an N64 from Goodwill and everythings in order, I picked up Pokemon Snap from EB, popped it in and it said No Controller hooked up, I messed with the controller, but still nothing...I'm really hoping I can just fix the controller, but I need to know if its the controller, the controller port or maybe somehow the game itself...?

How's the cable? It looks fine...Theres no wires sticking out or anything it's all nice and encased...

open it up and check theres no obvious damage to anything..

Also check if the main controller to deck wire is connected to the controller board.
