View Full Version : CGE2k5: The Party, revealed

I decided to make a separate post about this, as I can't edit the other one. The details for this year's party have all pretty much been finalized; I was holding off on making a post about it, because we were hoping to have a room number nailed down early. We don't have one yet, but if that changes, I'll post it here! On to the details!
The party WILL be held in the very same hotel as the convention and where, hopefully, all you people are staying! We've also been promised that the party ROOM will be in the special CGE block that's been set aside, so hopefully, we'll avoid any noise complaints ;)
The room number will be available the day of the party, which is Saturday, at the DP booth. And this is where the new information comes in..
**If you are planning on coming to the party, PLEASE stop by some time during the day on Saturday, not only to grab a flyer with the room number on it, but also to pre-sign in.**
*Due to attendance last year, and projected attendance this year, we're having to keep tabs on numbers to keep the party fun and safe. As added incentive, those that pre-sign in for the party at the booth not only will get preferential admittance over those who have not done so, they'll also get a break on the cover charge!
*Yes, we have decided there will be a cover charge this year. $3 for those who pre-sign in at the booth, and $5 for those who do not. We felt that this amount would be well worth the free alcohol, pizza, and door prizes to be had inside.
*We will be maintaining & checking a list at the door of the party; if we are nearing room capacity, and your name is not on the list, those whose names are on the list will be let in before you.
*Also, we will be checking ID's when it comes to the alcohol. If you know you look young, and you're pretty sure we haven't met you before, please make sure to bring yours with you. We will NOT tolerate any minors drinking.
I'd like to take this opportunity to once again say thanks to those that volunteered to help with the party! Here's to hoping this year will be at LEAST as much fun as last :)

***LIVE DJ!***
Sorry, I omitted this from my first post!
We will be having a live DJ at the party this year, as well. Our own Tony Fox has agreed to be in charge of our musical entertainment for the party. So be sure to stop by and check him out!

Oops! Guess I took that so much as a "for granted," that I forgot to mention it :)

I am a producer, not a DJ.
Digital Retro Revolution is bringing a full-blown recording studio to CGE complete with a 12 Track AKAI MG 1214 mixing board (that cost $12,000 and weighs a freakin' ton), two modified analog keyboards that look like something out of Liberace's personal stash (?) along with an insane thumpin' sound system, professional light show with trussing, a ton of extra gear and (hee-hee) some turntables!
We're practically bringing a NYC nightclub all the way to San Francisco for your enjoyment.
Everything will be interactive so you can see how we create our music hands-on.
I started spinning records back in the late 1970's and do not consider the job of a DJ to be challenging unless there are at least 4 turntables involved in the performance.
I am in charge of every aspect on all of our audio productions from start to finish. I consider the job of a DJ to be "a human jukebox". I would rather produce the records instead of just play them on a turntable. There's no comparison between a DJ and a producer.
Be prepared to be amazed by The Digital Retro Revolution!

Yeah, but all that gear isn't going to be at the party :) Most of that is for the show floor!

I forgot to mention that we planned out a special musical setup for the party aside from the stage show which includes karaoke! (Hi-Yaaaah!)
We're going to have an entire audio/video recording studio setup on the CGE floor AND at the party to record both the action on the CGE floor and everybody's drunken performances at the after party! Wheeeeeeee!
I also forgot to mention that the CGE party is cause for yet another celebration.
Digital Press is going to celebrate the release of their newest musical production:
Save The Humanoids by Digital Retro Revolution!
It is going to be available on CD and is also going to be released on a very special limited edition "funky fresh" 90 minute 8-Track tape with a half hour of bonus tracks exclusively for CGE2k5! Talk about retro!
We are also going to be broadcasting an *insane* classic gaming themed music video montage produced and edited especially for Digital Press/CGE2k5 at Digital Press Studios NYC and re-edited at our studio in Berlin Germany, and will be shown throughout the day at the Digital Press Records stage. It is *guaranteed* to put a smile on your face!
I will be meeting up with Evil Otto to rehearse all next week in our Los Angeles studio after he returns from his European tour with The Trance Europe Express on Monday.
Get ready for a show that you will never forget!
Don't forget to stop by the stage and say hi!
:)

No drinking for minors? Could this be related to the Pac-man of shots that Marty was pouring last year? :-)

This could be related to the fact that it's against the law for minors to drink, and for anyone to provide them with alcohol.

To be fair, I think Marty was (mostly?) just pouring them, NOT drinking them...
