This has been a long summer for many of us including myself. When you look back in a year what will you remember from the summer of 2005? Will it be Metos, PSP emulation, xbox at e3, etc.

The biggest thing I will remember will be PSP emulation. Just because this will be the first time that I was able to play an emulated game on a portable system.

Has to be purchasing my Electric Blue DS and constantly playing Nanostray, Kirby Canvas course, or Nintendogs...

Well nothing new that has "recently" come out. I am awaiting Geist and Advance Wars, I think that's about it that going to just be coming out.

On the other hand, about 2 months ago I bought an XBOX, new, and already have about 15 new games that I bought. I have found all of them on sale. I have been playing HALO most of the summer with my brother and neighbor on co-op, through the actual game.
Yes, the first time I have ever played HALO was only a couple weeks ago. It's sad.

I'll remember adding 10 GBA games to my collection in less than a month.

(loose unless otherwise noted)

Aero The Acro-Bat
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
Konami Collector's Series: Arcade Advanced
The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past/Four Swords
Need For Speed Underground 2
Racing Gears Advance (new)
Rayman Advance
Sonic Advance
Strike Force Hydra (complete)
Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World

Most of those were bought on the cheap, but I splurged on Racing Gears Advance. I got Super Mario World in a trade.

I also bought a summer release (Flipnic: Ultimate Pinball, which was released on July 13th).

The best part of this summer (gaming-wise) for me would have to be finally beating Kirby's Dream Land 3 and Breath of fire 3, two games I've owned since childhood. :)

I'll remember the dawn of the DS. This summer has brought life to the new handheld device. The DS got Kirby, Meteos, Nanostray and will be getting Nintendogs this summer. It's now offically not just a novelty (the same can't be said about the PSP yet).

I'll also remember the fighting over Hot Coffee. My arguing over Killer 7. And of course Jack suing game companies over a sniper.

But most of all i'll remember the good times here on DP.

i didn't touch a video game from the start of may until the start of august. i bought a bike and rode around a lot, and spent a lot of time outdoors and generally felt really good and energetic.

i'd have no clue what happened in gaming this summer.

blowing up the homeworlds of countless friends and enemies... on an Electric Blue Nintendo DS, deffinately the high-point.

The disapointment that was Conker: Live & Reloaded's multiplayer mode... low.

Man, I wish the summer was long for me. It flew by like most summers do for me, and as always, I have all these things I want to accomplish that didn't get done. I wanted to really relax and savor my vacation from school, but that didn't happen either. :/ Oh well, that's life. At least I got to do a little gaming and shopping. I seem to often immerse myself in the NES more so in summer than any other time of the year. I usually completely ignore the current happenings of the game industry in the summer, and instead, I relive the simpler days of my childhood summers. The simpleness of NES games really fits with the relaxing atmosphere of summer that I always try to capture, and the big box of Nintendo Power issues I bought last summer helps too. Each summer I've been slowly working through them, reading them cover to cover. This summer it looks like I'll wrap up with the beginning months of the SNES. What I love is how the magazines inspire me to pick up games that I've previously just ignored. Not long ago I played through Wurm, a game that I initially thought was pretty crappy, but after a slight bit of effort to get the hang of it, I was happy to discover that it's a hidden gem, lost in the obscurity born of its SNES hype era release. I've also been playing completely through the original Final Fantasy with the Nintendo Power strategy guide in hand. I'd like to finally beat Metroid and Legacy of the Wizard as well with the help of some Nintendo Power maps, but I don't know if I'll have time for that.

As for the shopping side of things, I haven't done half as much as I did last summer, but I did manage to add quite a few games to the collection. Probably most notable are two R7s and an R8, a fair number of Dreamcast games to add to my tiny collection for that system, and a few complete Game Gear games. Like last summer, I've had my finds dictate where my collecting will aim. Back then, I got a whole bunch of Sega CD games which resulted in me getting the add-on. This summer, finding the Game Gear games will force me to finally get a Game Gear. Of course, it would be even better to find systems I don't have in the wild, but that never seems to happen.

For me it will be the summer of Glimmerati (probably for my girlfriend too since she always says "are you playing that Glimmerati game again")

Yes I'm addicted to this game. I don't do much online gaming but for the first time I've uploaded my times to the Glimmerati N-Gage Arena and I'm first in several of the time trails!!! I've already played through the story mode once and I'm on my second pass since my score was a dissapointing 17th in the Arena rankings.

I also got a DS and Meteos which I love to death and play against my girlfriend at night (she can't beat me as much as she wants too which is fine by me since she always beats me in Pokemon Puzzle League). Kirby Canvas is fun too but the both those great games will be overshadowed by Glimmerati which I play everyday since I got it.
