Your honest opinion, please.

can i ask how it can be our opinions when the poll is wrong?

Hah, I love it. Well played.

The system just never really was given a chance by anyone. Shadow Squadron/Stellar Assault is a damn fine game and a nice example of what was possible on the hardware. It's just too bad there wasn't enough of a market to support it...

So yea, just for that one game alone, i'd say it's a damn fine system :)

"If it's wrong, I don't wanna be right!"

Anyway, pick one or the other. You have a 100/100 chance of getting the right answer. Live a little!

Its got damn fine versions of "Afterburner 2" and "Space Harrier" so i'm cool with it.

It needed a good port of "Outrun" or "Turbo Outrun" to complete things.

The myopia in this thread is remarkable.

It has some nice games, and the price has been right for many years.

It obviously had support issues, but it's easily worth it now.....

I would say no, if I had a choice. The games were fine and I don't have issue with software. However, I honestly with it never came out. I think the decision to release the 32x really hurt Sega when it came time for the Saturn and even the Dreamcast. Those few, decent 32x titles probably cost us dozens if not hundreds of Saturn and Dreamcast titles that will never be released. Shadow Squadron was fun, but I think the industry is a darker place because of it.

There's a nice writeup of the 32X in this month's Retro Gamer, if anybody's interested...

I don't mean to offend any fan of this system but in my opinion it's the worst of the 20-something systems I own. And I am a sega fan. Part of it is that I don't even like N64 quality 3d and the 3d titles on the 32x look a lot worse than that. All of the 2d games could have been done on the genesis(with a few small compromises) and none of them were particualry good. Knuckles Chaotix wasn't a horrible game but I prefer all of the genesis Sonic titles along with Sonic CD. Blackthorne was the only game on the sytem I really liked at all. I can play that one on the snes(and now the gba). Therefore I have no reason to take my 32x out of the box. If one of my friends asked me they could gladly have all of my 32x stuff for a meal at taco bell and a pack of cigarettes.

Like the Jaguar, I enjoy the system for a few of its games:

- Shadow Squadron, one of the best games of the 32-bit era.
- Virtua Racing Deluxe, the best version of this game anywhere.
- Star Wars Arcade, the only place you could find it.

The 32X version of Mortal Kombat II, NBA Jam TE, and After Burner are well done too, but it's the three above that bring me back to the 32X from time to time.

for the price (less than 20 bucks) and the space it takes up (one extra wall wart AC adapter, a couple of extra vertical inches on a genesis, games and boxes can tail a genesis collection) the 32x is worth the price of admission.

Worth it for anything by Sega released for it, as well as for being the only place to get the sadly obscure Chaotix, besides emulation, for now. I only got Chaotix recently, and having first played a bit of "Sonic Crackers", it is cool to see the finished product. The gameplay mechanic with the tethered partner is almost Miyamoto in its innovation. Takes a bit of work to master, but is worth every minute.

As for the rest, there is quite a bit of crap on the 32X (thank you Acclaim), but the good ones (most of which have already been mentioned) are well worth the relatively low price of admission.

Oh, and steer clear of the Motocross game. It's truly terrible. I was hoping for something approximating the fantastic Stadium Cross, but what I found was heart-wrenchingly awful. Dirt Trax FX is better than this garbage.

Virtua Fighter is also quite good on the system and cool to play with a genesis pad.

This system isn't too bad but I think it was a bit overpriced when it came out. I think there were too many reashed games that were out on other systems and not enough unique, new games.

This coming from the guy who says all the people that voted the SNES worst major system of the 90s should be taken out back and shot?

well idk what you mean by fine, but I do like the system. By no means a greaqt system, but it is worth owning for a select few titles.

It's worth the current price of admission, if only for knuckles chaotix, one of my favorite sonic games period. I like it more than sonic CD, which I'm sure is blasphemy in some parts.

I think Virtua Racing Deluxe is the game that makes the system worth it for me. Even after playing the remake/port on the PS2 the 32X one is still my favorite (if only it had analog control... :( ). Other great titles are Knuckles Chatoix and Kolibri. And Metal Head is damn impressive to look at.

Going to say this just because of the ingenious poll...(couldn't decide if the top or bottom 'yes' choice was better).

The 32x isn't a system(console), it's an expansion pack...can't be a good system because of that fact. It's a good expansion pack...
