View Full Version : Blockbuster, the XBOX 360 and Gamer's Pass

I've seen the E3 DVD set, and I've seen all the XBOX 360 games that are supposedly coming down the pipe, and I can tell very quickly, that I'm going to want way too many of the launch games right away.

After spending so much on the system, and the inevitable "forced bundle", I'm just not going to be in a situation to be able to buy every game that I want.

God, I hope that Blockbuster carries the XBOX 360 games aggresively, and I hope that the 360 games work with the Gamer's Pass as well.

For some reason, I'm thinking that XBOX 360 games won't work with the Gamers Pass.

If it does work with the Gamers Pass, then I just might get the Gamers Pass at two different blockbusters, I'll get the 2 game at a time Gamer's Pass for $29.99, and it will be worth it to me, to be able to sample all the XBOX 360 games that are out there.

Certainly, I'll have to get a couple of games with my XBOX 360 forced bundle, but I think I would prefer to just rent the games if I could. At least initially. There are so many games I'm going to want to sample, that the best way is to have a couple of gamers passes. Maybe one at Hollywood Video, one at Blockbuster and one at GameFly. That way I can assure myself that I will have a varied collection to rent from.

Was this supposed to be a blog entry? LOL

I seriously doubt any of the games will be worthwhile, unless you're a graphics>gameplay person.

Just go online. I get four game rentals at the same time for what you're paying for two. The only advantage to Blockbuster is speed. But with four games out at once, It's not really a huge deal.

And that's exactly what Anthony is.

If it doesn't play on his "OMG BIG ARR GEE BEE SCREEN" he doesn't care about it.

One thing about the online rentals that bother me, is the fact that you got to send the games back, and then wait....

I like the fact that I can go to my blockbuster that is 5 minutes from my house and snag a game. With Gamer's Pass, you can do unlimited rentals. There have been times when I've rented 6 games in one day with Gamer's Pass. 2 games at a time, and I've switched them 3 times within on day.

Each month I use Gamers Pass, I try to sample at the very least 20 different games. Usually, I try to sample even more that that.

One month, I think I tried 43 different games. They have XBOX, PS2 and GameCube, and I have all 3 systems, and there is always one game for those 3 that I've been meaning to check out.

Actually, I do talk about my home theater way too much, and I should cut that down considering this is a retro video games forum and not avsforum.com.

But when I do talk about it, I'm not trying to brag, like I've got a better TV than everybody else, it's just about my own excitment for playing whatever game or system on it.

But I definitely need to curtail my talk about it. I'm going to try not talking about it until the XBOX 360 comes out.

But as for cmosfm, this dude is always talking smack about me, and I don't know what it is... I don't know why he's always on my jock.

I'm guessing it must be joystick envy or something....

Xbox 360? Launch? There IS no problem. Buy the system along with Project Gotham 3 and the new Elderscrolls game.....and you're good to go for months. There IS no need to play anything else!!! LOL

Seriously though.....I'm itching to own a 360, but I'm debating whether to resist until later. More software, no forced bundle and perhaps a price drop would make things more palatable to the wallet. Then again.....this is precisely the reason that they make Visa cards, right??

Wow, I <3 people that tread crap. If that isn't 1+'ing, I dunno what is. I love how I got meseta removed from me for adding a short comment to a post once, but people can tread crap without consequence.

Anyways, the 360 launch actually looks pretty solid. Elder Scrolls, Perfect Dark Zero (hopefully good), PGR3, Ghost Recon, Condemned (looks fantastic), and some other stuff. I was worried about it, but it could turn out to be a decent launch.

Considering it would be cheaper for me to buy an Xbox 360 to play Oblivion than it would be to upgrade my computer... not a hard choice hehe

Anthony1 Talks about his TV too much.

The majority of people here like new systems too, I personally own every new system, everyone that I know here personally owns at least a couple of them, you're quite jaded dude.

Anthony1, Like I said before, I have NO problem with you...none whatsoever, I like everyone. It's just your posts that annoy the hell out of me. TV, no one cares, realize that, stop talking about it, shut up. Jesus Christ how hard is that to get through your head? THAT'S the problem, once you stop talking about your TV or making vague hints about it in every post, I have no reason to be a jerk toward you anymore.

Joystick Envy? Oh please.

Dude, you're always bumping around in my threads, posting something negative, some snide remark or whatever....

Obviously, you have a stong dislike for me. And that's ok. Because when somebody dislikes somebody else to such a degree, then it means that you care about me enough to dislike me.

So you might as well send me some flowers and candy and get it over with.

Am I the only one here that has an unhealthy love for CliffyB even if he is an attention whore? Gears of War should be great.

But like was said earlier, gamefly will probably be your best bet (espiecally if your near California.)

I'm going to have to back Anthony1 in this. Cmosfm, if you don't like his threads, DONT READ THEM. There are many of us here that find his comments of AV stuff and how it applies to gaming (both retro and current) very insightful. Step off, man.
