Which ps2 game should I get?

I havn't purchased a ps2 game since Ys 6 came out and i'd like to get a new one. I'm kind of poor at the moment so i'm only going to get. I've narrowed it down to the following titles. Which one would you recommend?

I'd go with ICO or God of War. I'm under a strong impression of the latter, as I played it for the first time last Saturday. It really deserves the 90% + ratings, for game play, looks and coolness.

On the other hand, it's "just" another 3D-Action Brawler.

I'm half through ICO and the game got me addicted right away. The whole atmosphere is great, I just got sucked into the game. True, the fights with the shadows can get on your nerves and sometimes the buddy system does as well, but I liked the riddles. And, for an early PS2 title, the graphics are really superb, imho.

Go for ICO, it's just a beautiful game in all aspects imo. The afforementioned shadows are annoying, but I can live with it. I wasn't impressed as much by God of War, it's not my type of game. I'm not a fan of over-the-top violence anyway. Second place for me would be R-Type Final, although it's not the best horizontal shmup for PS2, the first place being claimed by Gradius V of course ;)

I know that Metal Slug 4 is the worst part of the series and I haven't played 5 yet, so I can't really comment on that game.

ICO is indeed fantastic and you do NEED it in your collection however it can be beat the first time through in about 8 hours and whilst you will play it through a few times, it won't be straight away.

Out of the others I would go the R-Type Final - playing it myself at the moment and if you like R-type you'll like this - well once you find the gamespeed button. Good thing is because of the challenge, action and unlockables as well as mastering the game it should keep you busy for eons of your s shmup nut.

I'd get ICO and God of War. ICO isn't that expensive...I'm sure it's less than $15 in most places, and God of War is probably going to be cheaper in the not-too-distant-future.

ICO would give the benefit of more playtime, but God of War is just so damn fun.

God of War by a mile.

This game has the best graphics you'll find on the PS2, easily rivaling anything on the Xbox. The action is intense and you have a constantly growing repertoire of weapons, moves and magic. The soundtrack is so good it's motivating - music swells and wanes in tandem to what's going on onscreen and it has that holy chorus stuff that just fits the game perfectly. The story and the cut-scenes are second to none. It's a great mix of 75% frenzied bloody action and 25% puzzle-solving.

It also has ladies with bare breasts. Kinda surprising when you first see it especially when you consider all the hubbub over games like DOA Volleyball or GTA's "hot coffee".

Ico would be my second choice but it's a distant second.

You should be able to find Ico and R-Type for like $10 each, so why not get both for half the price of one of the others and consider yourself ahead?

I don't think you could go wrong with any of them, though

Can't go wrong with any of them. ICO is too short, but it's an true gaming experience,, and you should play it before the sequel hits shelves....but God of War, while short too, can be replayed with increased difficulty. Metal Slug is the same no matter what number, great game, new levels. R-Type is R-Type, great game, new levels....

God of War it must be...It'll probably be $20 by Christmas though so you may want to buy them in the order of cheapest to most expensive...

I would lean towards Gods Of War

from what I played of it, it's a great game, I am waiting to buy it before i play it anymore but it seems alot of fun.

ICO is soo brilliant in almost every aspect

God of War is sooo fun

Hell all I have ICO and plan on another play through soon since on of my memory cards "dissapeared" and only have a Demo of God of War but ive played through that demo many times already
