Why the fuck did they go with Super Turbo over Hyper SF2?

Too many people scared of their O. Sagat losing to Hyper Fighting characters? LOL

Here's a reason you shouldn't go.

The tourneys are run off consoles instead of the original arcade PCB's. I have no idea whose idea that was, but it's retarded even though ports these days are pretty good.

But honestly I'd go if I had more money to burn.

That's really more a function of the fact that arcade boards are harder and harder to come by these days, and, naturally, it's more expensive to find a CPS-III+3rd strike than an Xbox or PS with the arcade perfect port.

If it's not an accurate port, I can understand not bothering with it, but if it's there, than it's just easier to do that, and have more stations to work off of.

Yeah it's just hard to get that many PCBs together... think about having to run a 300 man tournament on a handful of SFIII: 3S boards... that's gonna be painful. Also it's way more expensive. :/ As much as I'd like to see all arcade, it's just not realistic unless we're all millionaires... plus it's easier to carry a PSTwo... lol

Consoles are taking over the tournament scene, arcade tournies are getting smaller and smaller.

See but it isn't arcade perfect.

I forgot what the differences are, but it's very slight.

I dunno, I just figure if you're running a huge tournament like that, you'd want it to be on the original hardware. And if you have the resources to put together a tournament of this size, you should have the resources to get PCB's.

Still it's very cool that this sort of thing is going on in the US.

I think you're thinking of the Dreamcast port of 3rd Strike, which had some input lag and missing unblockables. As far as I'm aware, the PS2 and Xbox ports have the option to play in Arcade mode, or Dreamcast Mode, and are pretty straight up accurate.

On a side note, we need to play some SF again one of these days. Or crappy cvs2, which I don't think I've even put in my Xbox yet.

Nah I think there was some real minor difference in the PS2/Xbox versions too. I'd have to search SRK for info on the differences, but I'm too lazy.

I haven't played any SF online in a couple months now, been slacking.

I'd be going if people still played marvel around here. Marvel and cvs2 are dying out slowly. Capcom needs to release another fighter for us to get into. For now EVO is about T5.. sadly. :(

A lot of people still play down south at GTA. I'd go there if they had T5. lol.

But a lot of the 2D gamers here are playing Tekken 5 tooo.. JOIN THEM!!!

ShadyK's been to our last to gatherings and so have a lot of other primarily Capcom players...
