Ok I just got a Sega 32 X. Everything except the Genesis to 32X connector cable  . It is very hard to find one of these cables so i was thinking of 2 alt options and im wondering if they would work. I had read on the internet that the 32x mixes the genesis bits (colors/bits) into via the wire,so without the genesis the 32x is nothing but a 16 Bit system. So i figure this. Option 1. With one A/V wire coming from the genesis and 1 a/v wire comming from the 32x use a Y-Adapter (the ones you use to make your NES simi stereo) plug both video cables into the adapter to become 1 video signal mixing the same picture making it 32 bit. Option 2. Using one A/V wire comming from the genesis and then one A/v wire going into the 32x use 2 audio Couplers http://www.radioshack.com/images/ProductCatalog/ProductImage/274/274-874.jpg
connect the A/V from the genesis to them and then connect the A/V going into the 32X.

Im wondering if either of the options would work, because im thinking all you need from the genesis is audio and video. Please tell me if this would work or not because if it dosent there are 2 options 1,search forever on the internet for that wire or throw the 32x out the window and shoot at it like its windows 95. Thanks very much for reading this and I hope to get some help. 8-)

Nope, neither option will work. The 32x requires the input signal from the Genesis.

I think segaparts.com still sells the cable.you can make one you just need a couple mini din plugs.

Last I checked segaparts only sells one half of the two-part cable needed to hook a 32x and a genny 1 together.

Unfortinetly I don't know a place to get the other half...I finally got mine in a very odd way...Madison, WI has a store called Game Xchange (actually the have three...), and I asked if they had them there. They had a handful, and were unpriced, so he gave me one. I really shoulda asked for more, heh.

You might want to try asking this guy: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=5889

He sells home-made ones on eBay every now and again, and could probably sort you out with one.

its not a mini din connector i was looking for one a couple months ago and couldnt find it the connector is between a Mini Din and a Din but with more pins although it doesnt take all nine pins you need the right pin spacing to make it work. i finally gave up and and found one on Ebay.

The connectors can be had from Digikey.com. I have a few and they're the right part. It's a 9 pin mini DIN plug

Of course, making your own cable with a pair of ends can be a challenge due to the tight pin spacing, but they are readily available.

I have many leftover "junk" Genesis RF Cables. Try splicing 2 of the ends together. It works for me. Maybe it'll work for you. However, recently. I abandoned this for the actual cable which I picked up for $.25(a quarter) at a thrift shop. I would only use Ebay or other auction sites to find another 32X with the cable (then you would have 2 systems 1 cable, use the spare system as a backup) as a last resort. But you could also try that.
