Man, I just got to let things go! I’ve been buying stuff like crazy the past few weeks and I’m starting to scare myself. Lately I’m obsessed with getting a Neo Geo and a Turbo Duo, do I really need these two systems? Nope. Are there any really great titles I want for these systems? Nope. Am I driving my wife and my wallet crazy? Yep. I’ve blown around 300 bucks in the past week alone (for me, that’s a lot). Man do I have to pace myself before I land up in divorce court!
Oh, and I want on of these as well:

JAMMA player and two controllers, $299.
See…there I go again!

Let us know when you get the Nova supergun. I've heard mixed reviews about them...

Good buys. I have been doing the same thing lately, except with things for the XBOX. Just got one two months ago, and need about 75+ games for it. Me and my girlfriend go places every weekend for sales at all the stores in the area.

I have the same habit, infact I just bought the following systems in the past 2-3 weeks.
Sega CD
Neo Geo AES
3DO
NUON
Not to mention countless games, I have spent nearly $1000 in the past month.

WRONG! These consoles are so magically fun, you won't believe it.
I went through the same phase, especially the "Gotta have a Neo Geo/DUO" one. When I finally got them, it was like filling a gaping void, I was finally at peace. I bought them just to "have", I thought I wouldn't play them. But now I can't turn those suckers off! TOTALLY worth it.
Right now, all I need is a boxed ColecoVision and my console voids will be filled.

It is almost impossible for me to pass up consoles if they are cheap. I recently picked up 2 more NES decks to add to the 6 other untested ones I had at home, just because they were cheap( whole box of stuff for $3 at a yard sale). Usually if I find a console in the wild I pick it up, unless it's one of the $30 Genesis consoles that people think are rare.

If I run into a console for cheap at a garage sale or thrift store that I already own...I'll buy it and sell it on ebay. If I don't already own it...I'll keep it, but I usually don't run into consoles at garage sales that I don't already own.
Really though, I only want to own consoles that I'm going to play...not ones that are just going to sit, collect dust, and take up shelf space. Even if they do make a good conversation piece.

I have a similar problem. I collect all video games and systems. If I find something cheao at the swapmeet for cheap, I'll buy it even if I already own it. Sometimes it turns out in better condition that before.

When I first started collecting, I was obsessed with buying obscure consoles as well. Its something about telling people "I have a _____", and they have no idea what your talking about.

*raises hand*
That's me. LOL
I remember when I showed my friends my Game.com. They were all like, "why the hell did you buy that?"
Nothing wrong with buying consoles, though. I was into that really big for a while, but then I stopped buying consoles and started buying games. I plan on finishing my console collection someday, though.
What I'd really like to get is some TG16 games! I spent $200 for my Turbo Duo, and the only game I have for it is an import Tenchi Muyo game that I can't play 'cuz it's mostly text.

Couldn't agree more, do not underestimate either of these systems or the large amount of great games available for each of them... :D

I go through these phases as well. It drives my wife nuts. I go through buying games, to obscessing over consoles, to now shoes of all things!! ( I am a huge Converse fan). Your phase will pass, but it will come back to some degree on and off......

I've been buying up Atari 2600 systems/games/controllers lately. I've also been buying up NES/SNES/N64/GB/GBC/GBA games like crazy. Probably spent $400 in the last month on games alone. :D

Hey look at it this way, once you buy every system you won't have to buy anymore of them well except the newer ones I guess @_@
