I think this is the correct forum, I apologize if it is not.

I've been trying to collect every US released SMS games for several years now. I've been going by a rarity list I printed off some fan site 5 or so years ago. Today I decided to compare it to the DP online rarity guide. I was clicking around on random games and came across this in the Strider section:

"Aside from a UPC sticker on the outside of the box, this game is 100% identical to the European release."

Is this to say that the US release has multiple languages on the back of the box and a horizontal manual? It just seems unusual that it would be done that way so I want to make sure. I have a copy that I always thought was a PAL release. Were there many other SMS games this was done with? I noticed the guide said Sonic the Hedgehog was done like this as well.

I also noticed something peculiar about my copy of Zillion 2. It has no barcode. It has multiple languages on the back, but could it be a US version without the UPC sticker on the back? Thanks in advance.

Yup.

Yup, the last 3 games released in the US (Sonic, Strider & Spiderman) were all released like this, presumably to save printing a seperate cover for what, by that point, was a very small US market. The only difference is the UPC sticker.

That'll be a European copy. The US version only has English on the back.

Only Strider, Sonic, and Spiderman were released in the US with multilingual packaging.

Well, there's also a number of copies of Aerial Assault that had European multilingual boxes, but included a standard US manual (even had the different US box art on the manual).

And Zillion 2 definitely came in a english only box in the US.
Your copy might have come down from Canada, where they often sold multilingual SMS games.

Damn you anagrama, first time in awhile a SMS question pops up that I can get to first, and you beat me to it again!

Well, I'll just go hit on some hot chicks while you go polish your SMS games.

Ah, thanks anagrama and Raccoon Lad. That's one less game I have to track down.
