I'm fairly new to ebay (only done one transaction there, until yesterday), and had a question:

I won an auction for an item, and it had in the description "shipping will be $5.00, plus $2.00 for handling. Will ship to USA, Canada, and Japan". Now the person is telling me that shipping to Canada (where I am) will be $13.00. What rights do I have in this situation, and what happens if I refuse to pay it?

I don't really care about my feedback - it would be unfortunate, but I could always start a new account (I think, not sure how that all works). Has anyone else run into these types of situations? I was very careful about how I read the shipping cost in the description - it really seems very clear that shipping will be a total of $7.00, regardless of which of the three countries it's going to.

Advice?

Let's see a link and I will tell you if I think you should pay them or not. Some sellers are very deceiving with their wording. Link it up...

Thanks by the way!

You forgot a crucial part of the sentence

Buyer will be charged for shipping; it will be $5.00 dollars for shipping and $2.00 for handling,in U.S.

$7 in the US, unspecified elsewhere.

Funny, I'm the person you outbidded. Although they should of given shipping price for International. They actually charged me a dollar more, then the calculation for the Final Fantasy.

Were you looking for a complete copy, or just a copy of the game (missing pendant and soundtrack CD case), cause I'm just trying to make a complete copy for my collection. If you want, I can likely hook you up with a decent deal on the not-complete one, let me know.

To everyone else, thanks for the help! I'm used to dealing with people on message boards, like this one, where there usually isn't much "fine print". I'll be more attentive from now on, thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, thanks for pointing this out - I just didn't see that part, I had only read the other, somewhat conflicting text, up above that - "Shipping will be $5.00 with a $2.00 handling charge, to be paid by buyer. Shipping to the continental United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, & Japan ONLY."

That text doesn't mention that the shipping cost is only applicable to US bidders. Ah well, now I know what to look for :)

I'm not to concerned with it. I already have the case, box, and everything else, just need to replace the Pendent and Stand up Pieces.

The seller did not word it very good but it says under payment instructions for the US only. Looks like you gotta pay the man.

Yeah, will do. I need to be more careful - I recently received a very similar package, from the US, and the actual postage was $5.85! I hate it when people gouge me on shipping, but not much I can do now :D

Welcome to the wonderful world of eBay. Always know shipping costs before bidding. Lesson learned. :D
