Star Wars Return of the Jedi for home consoles

Hello Fellow DP'ers - hoping someone could help with a question:

around 1984 in the arcades was a game Star Wars Return of the Jedi.

Unlike Star Wars or the Empire Strikes Back (both vector graphics games) RotJ was raster graphics.

Wondering if it was ever released for any home consoles or maybe a hidden feature of any of the newer system Star Wars games.

I only vaguely remember it and don't even know if it was any good, just a curiousity that I was discussing with a customer.

Let me know if you have any details to share.

Description: The player controls an on-screen ship in one of three different stages -- Speeder Bikes, the Millenium Falcon and an AT-ST walker -- in a third-person perspective, shooting enemies and avoiding obstacles to reach the end of each stage. HRC/unique/1P.

Return of the Jedi (the arcade game) is a hidden, unlockable feature in Rogue Squadron III for the Gamecube. Of course, you could always just download the ROM and try it out in MAME!

If this is indeed the same game we are talking about, it came out for the PC, C64, Amiga, Atari ST, and Spectrum computers.

I'm guessing that you'll probably rather try Flack's solution though. ;)

That's cool -- I thought only STAR WARS and EMPIRE were in the game...I assume you have to complete EVERY mission and medal on it to unlock JEDI.

Well, it was for ME -- when the game was picked for one of the games in the MAME tournament I laughed as I had been playing it for several days on my GameCube. ;) As a result I got the highest score. :D

I tried the code and got it to work... too bad RotJ isn't nearly as good as I remember it! (oh, how 20 years dulls the memory...)

Either way, it was fun to play for a little while!
