Around 8 months ago or so, I won an auction for 4 complete genesis games. It was a 12.00 BIN, plus 4 shipping, so I paid 16.00 for it. The games were Revenge of Shinobi, Street of Rage, and another common game, which I forgot the name of. The last game was El Viento for the mega drive. When I bought it, I figured I got 4 games I wanted for a good price. Then a couple days ago, i stumbled upon this auction.

El Viento. Nice. Its sequel will also run you a bit, though it's said to be a mediocre game.

Last year I paid five bucks for Keio Flying Squadron, a Sega CD shooter, at a flea market. I had no idea it was rare at all until I found an auction like this months later.

Of course, I now kick myself, because the vendor had two copies of the game and I bought only the nicer one.

I moved last year and I have been getting my gaming room in order. I came across Congo Bongo for the Int. I don't remember buying it so I can't tell you how long it took for me to figure out this was a pretty good find. :-D

Yeah...back a few years ago now, one of my friends came home from the military for a mutual friend's wedding. While he was in town, I got to talking with him and he told me that he had a bunch of games laying around that he didn't want. Turns out that he had a Sega CD 2 w/Genesis, about 4 controllers, and about 35 games. Mostly lame stuff like Jurassic Park and such, but included were a few that I'd never heard of. I got Uncharted Waters: New Horizons, Shining Force CD, and some game called Snatcher that he said was "fucking awesome and you'll love it." Being as I'd never heard of it, I took it and all the other 30+ games and his system home for a whopping $50 US and popped in Snatcher which i absolutely loved!

Later, after I'd beat the game and was thinking how cool it was, I though..."Lets look it up on eBay!" and lo and behold it happened to be worth more than I paid for the entire collection!!! :o

That's about the only time that's happened other than the time I got a boxed Bubble Bobble 2 and a loose Bubble Bobble 1 for $5 and then sold em on ebay together and wondered why they sold for $110. :)

I've had a few such cart where I never knew its value for a while. I think my best would be way back in '85 when my family found SQ:Water World at a corner toy store for $3. Brand fuckin' new game. I found the game sucked even more than other SQ games.

Wouldn't be until end of '90s when I got the internet and discovered eBay (they were still housed in a garage back then, using Compaqs) and found loose SQ:WW going for well over $100. I almost sold my SQ:WW back then.

I purchased Karate by Ultravision for $300 a couple of years ago. I knew it was rare but I've had many offers over $1000.
