Got to play this at a friend's tonight. Typical new-school shooter. I couldn't figure out if there was some special "system" to rack up massive points and the soundtrack was pretty weak in comparison to some other games like Shikigami no Shiro 2 and Espgaluda. I'll need to give it another shot before I say for sure but this felt overall pretty mediocre to me.

Mushi Himesama means Insect Princess.

What mode were you playing it in? Original mode is pretty weak to be honest. Better playing in Manic mode. The only scoring technique I found is that to continuesly keep shooting enemies as in your shots are connecting and not hitting air otherwise it goes down. Also there are certain enemies that when you defeat them the bullets will become crystals and you will receive additional points.

I liked the game and I thought the soundtrack was good. Its not like other cave games though and thats why i think it gets a bad rap.

Unfortunately this game runs in some horrible scan-doubled and filtered mode permanently:( At least with the Akira ports you got a true low res mode in Tate.

Yeah, the port is mediocre at best. THe game isn't that bad. I really don't like Original mode that much. The bullets are too few and too fast. Maniac isn't bad, but I really don't like it as much as I like ESPGaluda (a sequel of which will be playable at next month's AM SHow, btw).

Arika didn't fantastic ports -- there's just no way around it.

Yeah, I liked ESPgaluda a lot better
