Everyone I've talked to, hasn't even opened theirs. So I'm wondering, how good is that D-pad? On a quick review stand point, what would you give it on a scale from 1 to 10?

I have two of them and I love them.

Control is perfect. The only hassle is that you actually have to remap the buttons in the game to get the controller to work properly (I know this is stupid, but it frustrated me for like 5 matches before I figured that out! LOL )

They work good, fun to use. But yeah, on like Street Fighter Alpha and some games you have to remap HK and HP.

I have the Ken controller for the PS1/PS2. I used it once to see if it's any good then put it back in the box.

I dont like where they put the Start button. It's too close to the L1 button and I hit it by mistake and keep pausing the game.

I have the Chun Li and the Ryu controllers for the PS2. I think they are great controllers. The D-pad is great, its not as great as the Saturn but damn close.

Biggest complaint is the location of the Start and Select Buttions. Sometime, games accidently get paused or worse like in MvC2 hitting start AND select will reset the game.

I hear they tend to break down easily, but are otherwise pretty good if you want a pad for fighters.

I've got the four original releases, and I've used my ryu one once. The d-pad is pretty good and the buttons are spaced a good distance. I'd rate it an 8.5/10.

If you truly want to get good at any fighting game, go get an arcade stick.

I just bought a Ken and Akuma pad about an hour ago, and Im pretty pleased.

It's a thick lil controller, but does feel very much like a Saturn pad...which is really good...

After configuring the setup, it's really nice (I dont mind the buttons, just knowing what the D-pad is like was my main concern)

I tried it once, but didn't like it like most joypads. I still swear by the Hori Fighting Sticks. They are just the best quality joysticks I ever found in my life (only The Arcade joystick for the C64 comes in mind if it is about quality).

I've used the Chun-Li one a few times, also have a boxed Ken one. Overall they are good controllers...I never used the Saturn pad they are based on, but they do feel a bit thick and light. The D-pad is nice, but as others have said, the start and select buttons are in a precarious position. I once accidentally reset my SF3TS game at Gill because I hit them both at once.

Now I mostly use the Tekken 5 arcade stick for fighting games, but the SF pads are pretty good too.

I just tested this out on some random PS1 games and the results were pretty interesting

Resident Evil 1 and 2 (Works great, but the R1 is wayy over there heh)

Silent Hill (Wow the controller is perfect since R2 is held down to fire your weapon)

Street Fighter Alpha 1 (Very nice, the button layout is exactly perfect)

Tekken 3 (Very nice)

KOF99 (Another sure fire winner, feels nice)

PS2 Games:

Mega Man Anniversary Collection (will not even reconize it at all and demand that you place in a Dual Shock controller)

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (only game I have had to reconfigure the setup, but works nice)

Onimusha 2 (Nope, won't budge)

Resident Evil Code Veronica (Won't Budge)

Devil May Cry (Devil won't like it)

Well, yeah. It's a digital only controller.
Those games all require analog.
It's like the original PS1 controllers in that regard.
It'll only work with games that you'de be able to use that controller with.

Personally, I really love mine.
Great response. I actually think I'm winning more when using it. Or maybe that's just because it looks powerful. Cable is suitably long, Buttons give the right resistance. My only complaint (and a minor one) is that I would have liked more weight to it. You spend so long with next-gen controllers with the rumble motors, and it just feels weird.

I have the Chun-Li controller, and I like it a lot. The d-pad is infinitely better than the horrid Dual Shock d-pad (I've always hated that thing with a burning passion).

I have 3 of them and opened one to use it while playing fighting games of course. I like it and it works well. Got it for 10 bucks at Gamestop and worth every penny. They are nice and light weight too, (no vibration function) which makes them easy to throw. LOL

Wow I'm the only one here who hates them. I opend my chun li controller gave it some play time then smashed it into the carpet. I'll take a worn psx pad over this pos any day.

My rating 3/10

Understandable on the rest, but Mega Man Collection? you'd think it would be okay. So it was kind of a surprise to me :)

You wanna give us some reasons why?

Ok first the D pad. Its too damn low, I have to bend my thumb too much to use it right so after a while I get cramps. Since its in the wrong spot for me it couses many move errors. Its too samll and smoth as well. So if your not carefull your thumb slips off. The Saturn pad didn't have this problem it was more concave so your thumb would allways be in the right spot. The saturn pad also has deeper cuts in the pad, wich helps you find true down right or up left or any other diagonal move. This helps greatly with the street fighter games wich are too finicky when it comes to doing move sets.

Next the cord its not made right. Unpluging it from a ps2 is too hard plus it took a part of my ps2 with it. Wich pissed me the hell off.

The Start Select buttons are in the worst spot possible.

Now this isn't really important but hell it's one more reason.

I hate the little moving picture in the middle. I'm sorry up I don't like looking up Chun Li's skirt. What with her massive linebacker legs and frightingly large calves.

And I think that about covers it.
