I have seen a couple different Ms. Pac Man cabinets, and I had a quick questions, to pose to the highly educated population in this board. I have seen two different colored sideart one is washed out, particularly the pink, while the other seems more brilliant. Is this a manufacturer difference, or simple the result of age and fading on the machine.

For example the picture on klov has very vibrant colors http://images.webmagic.com/klov.com/images/M/cMs._Pac-Man.gif

While this image, which is indicitive of some cabs Ive seen are, is faded. http://www.moneymachines.com/mspacdecals.jpg

Here is another faded cabinet, even though it claims to be in good shape:

Just something I would like to know as I search for a cab in good shape. Especially since it is hard to fix and expensive to replace side art. Thanks guys,

I'd say that's faded. If you look at the control panel/bezel on the eBay one, I think the colors there (bright) give it away on the rest of the machine. The Ms Pac-Man at a local night club (imagine that) has very vibrant sideart and looks pretty much unused. That said, Ms Pacs always tend to have that faded look, so who knows?

There are 2 different Ms Pac Cabs out there. The originals (typically faded) are painted with stencils. The later cabs actually have vinyl side art like a more modern cab. Those seem to have aged a bit better than the painted ones if the art is still intact.

It's possible to find both in really nice, unfaded shape. If you run across one that doesn't have the 'hand wear' on cab at the left side of the control panel, snag it! Every one I've owned has had this wear (gone through about 5 cabs now).

The picture from KLOV may have reproduction art on it, or may be a stock photo cropped from a flyer or some other advertisement.

You can tell a later version cab (with vinyl art) from the original (painted) by the border around the edge. The vinyl art had a white border, whereas the original painted cabs had no border. The last reproduction art I saw also had the white border, but that was a few years ago.

I remember running across a Website maybe 6-7 months ago which also sold a Mrs Pac Man stencil set, and a small primer on what paints are an exact match.

I forget what the URL was, but a websearch should dig it up.

hey guys....this forum answered the same question for me as well....lol....i have a ms. pacman machine in my basement and it has that old faded look of paint on it. and you can tell it was hand painted because of the brush strokes in it etc. its in decent shape but yea the hand etc. has like faded away a bit. I was thinking about repainting the whole machine with bright vibrant colors like the other one but do you guys think the value of it would go up if it was repainted and looked like new or go down because its not original paint in it. It already has a brand new monitor in it with crisp bright colors. lmk any opinions. Also you guys know if and where i could get a speed chip for my ms. pacman? i played an old machine down in NC that had ms pacman flying around the screen and made the game easier but kinda funner and fast paced. lmk thanks fellas!

Depends on if the buyer wants a refurbed machine that looks nicer or an original one. Could go either way.

Also you guys know if and where i could get a speed chip for my ms. pacman?

Lots of places carry it.
