Man, when I got Virtual Open Tennis in early 2003 or so, I actually thought it was decent. Yesterday I popped it in for a go... and man, what the hell happened? It's HORRIBLE.
Any games you guys used to like, only later to find out you felt otherwise? It's a bad feeling :/ but that's how it goes some times.

Slap Fight. I used to like it in the arcade, and played the C64 version a lot, but recently I've had goes on it, and fuck is it cheap and hard and full of worthless powerups and annoying in general..

Holy crap - that was so going to be my answer. I played this game on a daily basis with an former girlfriend's younger brother when it was brand new. I just picked up my own copy two weeks ago, after having not played the game since like 1999. Ugh, it sucked.

Final Fantasy X. Starts out good, gets incredibly redundant a couple hours into it.
GTA 3. It really is entertaining at first. The more I played it, though, the less I was enjoying it. Can't really find a reason for that. I just can't believe the sequels have been as successful as they have since the game didn't hold my attention all that long. Odd.
Mortal Kombat. I was obsessed with this game in '92. I have grown to absolutely despise it. Probably because this game was the beginning of the end for arcade gaming, (as fighting games are now the ONLY games you see in most arcades), and because it set the precedent for loading games with violence and forgetting to make them fun. Besides that, I've really just grown tired of fighting games in general. SFII Turbo is the only one I still really enjoy, and that's because it's complex enough to have a vast amount of depth to it, but not so complex that you have to study for hours and memorize combos and techniques to be successful at it.

I can't think of a specific one but I really enjoyed a lot of ps1 games when they came out and I find a lot of them unplayable now. Now that I think about it Spyro the Dragon comes to mind. I used to play that game all the time and now it makes me sick.

Oh man, I whole heartedly agree. So very few games I actually consider playing to this day. I loved the system back when it was in production though. Wierd huh?

A handful of years ago my friends and I went on a camping trip. We of course took games along. We spent an entire night playing endless games of Perfect Dark (it was still pretty new at the time). It was one of the most fun times playing games I can remember having.
The next year we went camping again and tried to recreate the experience. Unfortunately, over the course of that year we had all been introduced to Dreamcast, and it was damn near impossible to play Perfect Dark anymore. The lag was just too much.
I still consider it to be the best FPS ever, but I just can't play it anymore.

Ikari Warriors on NES....We all played this game to death, yet when I played it last week...I realized...what the hell was I smoking?? Then it hit me....This wasn't the game! It was GUERRILLA WAR that was the better port lol

War gods on n64. Yes I actualy liked that game when I first got it, and it ends up being one of the worst fighters ever.
Kasumi Ninja on jaguar, yes I even liked this one too....
WWF War Zone on n64. There was a time when I liked wrestling, and this game was really alot of fun, and create a character was hilarious.
Glover on n64. Somehow I liked this game when it came out. Playing it today makes me wonder what was wrond with me...
Beavis and butthead on genesis. Was always fun 2 player, 1 player sucked. Farting and burping were how you attacked, but today this game is just horrible to me.

Wacko is my choice.
I used to play it back in the day. I actually enjoyed when I first got the ROM for MAME.
Having played it a little more - man, does it suck!
What did I ever see in that game?
To a lesser extent is another Mid-80's Midway title, Timber.

about 90% of N64 games that I used to think were decent to good games back in the day.
There are only a select few that I still enjoy to this day and play on EMU SM64, Goldeneye and a couple others but thats it.

Super Smash Brothers. I remember enjoying it in high school, but when I tried to play it later and then Super Smash Brothers Melee, I found that I really didn't enjoy the format. I appreciate the unique chance to have many different characters from the nintendo universe together, but there are severly unbalanced characters and no real way to tell if you're winning or losing. Frustrating to no end for me.

My vote goes to the original Tekken. it was golden back when it first came out. When tekken 2 dropped, it was no need for it. Today i find the game unplayable. The fighters look so skinny and distorted. Well except for Michelle.
