I did a search on the forums and couldn't find any topics on it.

I am just wondering what everyone thought of Perfect dark for the 64

is it good? bad? overrated?

Just leave what you think about it?

My self I love the game, it's a great multiplayer game for the 64, I like it alot more than Goldeneye especially when playing 4 players with all types of weapons,

IMO it's one of the best multiplayer games out even to this day it holds up through gameplay, the graphics are not the greatest but it's still an awesome game.

I would recommended everyone to play 4 player perfect dark, nothing like it on the 64

Best N64 game made.

It's definitely a great game, and one of the best for the N64, but I don't think it even begins to compare to Goldeneye(easily my favorite game for N64). Both are unique, but Goldeneye has that Nintendo polish on it that Perfect Dark doesn't. By the way, I seriously doubt Rareware will make a worthy sequel on the XBOX 360, simply because Nintendo isn't involved. Here's hoping they exceed expectations, but I'm not holding my breath.

Great and cheap game... I'm a little dissapointed by the 1 "bad" vote but still not bad so far.

This game was by far better than goldeneye in every aspect (besides the fact that you couldn't use Bond as a char in multi)

I fully agree that the game was better than Goldeneye in every way possible, but I was disappointed in the game engine. Maybe if they had held the game off until the next generation or something then it would have been a lot better, but with the framerate problems that it had, i just had a hard time really enjoying the game as much as I wanted to.

And the 360 version isn't going to suck because Nintendo isn't involved, it's going to suck because the guys working at Rare right now are a bunch of no talent assclowns that are nothing more than a company with a name that used to be big. When Microsoft bought them, they got the licenses and that's it. All of the "talent" had already left and they've since churned out the mediocre Timesplitters games (games killed by lackluster control and piss poor single player)

Tangent: If you have a powerful enough PC, you can actually make the game run quite smooth in Project64 by changing the CounterFactor (CF) from 2 to 1 in the configuration for Perfect Dark. Then you can use Darkman's DInput 4.0 to implement a preset mouse and keyboard configuration with the game, thus making it far more playable than it has ever been before.

I love emulators :(

It's the game that got legions of gamers to finally remove Goldeneye from their consoles.

Surprisingly, Rare doesn't seem to be doing much these days. They used to pump out several games a year. We've only gotten 2 games from them since the acquisition. Grabbed By The Ghoulies was definitely not "Rare". I'd like to see them back with Nintendo so that they could give us 128 bit updates of their famous franchises. I'd love to see a Banjo 3 or 128 bit Donkey Kong.

They've already made a third Banjo Kazoie game (for GBA, takes place between 1 and 2) and it was actually pretty damn good.

Unfortunatly, it's the only good title they've done in years and even their best titles (ie Jet Force Gemini :( ) were hindered by their reliance on the collect-everything gameplay... the first half of that game was so damn good and then they shit all over it in the second half (after the false ending). Never bothered getting the true ending. :(

I always found it ugly and awkward, and disappointing as the follow up to Goldeneye. Give me Quake II instead for that system any day.

Bad game in my opinion. Which is why you can usually find it for $1 sealed; nobody wants it.
The controlls always bothered me.

Great multi-player. Single player drags a bit at the end and just isn't as tight overall as Goldeneye.

Funny this should come up. I'm trying to track down all my N64 controllers because the band mates want to get some Perfect Dark on.

Actually you can find it for that price because it's the highest production N64 cartridge.

Nintendo expected it to sell as well as GoldenEye 007, but the lack of Bond licence meant it sales never managed to better the original.

I can't confirm this, but I read somewhere that Nintendo almost produced one Perfect Dark cart for every N64 console sold.

Now not everyone likes FPS's, so of course, not all N64 players bought the game - which isn't to say it's a bad game.

LOL that's great I actually saw one of my good friends and we broke out perfect dark and played it,

that's actually what made me want to make the topic.

I only played multiplayer. While it had alot more guns and options and such, I still felt that goldeneye had the better multiplayer experience. Nothing beats a 4 player deathmatch in the complex, my personal favorite :)

Perfect Dark is a good game but Goldeneye N64 is still my favorite FPS ever.

PD just missed the mark on what was promised to gamers after years of delays it was a slight let down overall. I mean a game that was in development for that long should have been perfect<no pun intended ;)

Personally I thought it was overhyped-not enough improvement over Bond, and personally I found the levels too dark to navigate through.

It is, IMO, the best game on the N64, and its only flaw worth notice is the serious framerate issues that inspired the chop-o-meter (see: CGW's platinum-giving review of the game), but in my mind this game has sience been usurped from the position of best console shooter by Timesplitters 2 (Halo can bite me).

Didn't know that... but it makes sense I guess. ;)

Decent game. Not as good as Goldeneye. Over-hyped on release. Horrible frame-rate issues. Weak 1-player game. Good multi-player options.

I'm sorry, I had to vote bad. In reality I thought it was cool with great weapons. Better weapons than Goldeneye. The two functions per gun was great. Lots of bots can be fun. However I can't get past the HORRID graphics. Even with the expansion pak the aliasing is so bad I never want to stick it in my machine again. I'll have to stick with Goldeneye and Mario Kart. :(

It was a good game, not great. It couldn't live up to Goldeneye, but I still had loads of fun.
