Hey everyone

I had to go to target this weekend and saw Far Cry for $20 I have heard alot of good things about it mostly graphicly is the gameplay any different from all of the thousands of shooters out there?

Also

How demanding is this game?, I have a new computer that I configured for simple gaming it has an ATI Mobility card,512Mb, 60Gb, and 2.0Ghz sorry if these aren't specific enough I don't have them with me. I have been able to play Battlefield 2 quite well on medium and Chronicles of Riddick looks quite good and runs very well. Far Cry seems to concern me though the screenshots look to good to be true.

Any info is apreciated Thanks :)

For $20, its totally worth it. Hell, I bought it for $50 and thought it was worth it. Graphics, obviously, are nice, and the gameplay is good enough to not be EXACTLY like every other game out there. Go for it, you'll have a good time with it.

It's amazing, better than Half Life 2. Look here for the future of blending gameplay and graphics. My crappy Dell can run it so your good laptop will be able too, just won't look THAT good.

Hey now, I wouldn't say that. Its a good game, but its not GREAT.
"I'm going to shoot you in the face!" and "I'm gunna make you wish you were dead!" are just a couple of the worst parts of this game. The ending was slightly dissapointing as well.

The game is not that difficult. A few parts might take a couple cracks, but other than that, no tougher than any other 3D shooter. I remember when I first played it I stood on a cliff just saying "Oooooo, Ahhhhhhh." The water looks amazing as well as the trees and grass. Very pretty game indeed. It should run fine on your machine. I had less than that to play it on and it was fine.

The one-liners are things the enemies say, and they say them quite often. Another high point of this game is the difficulty. There are a whole bunch of modes (I think its something like... Easy, Medium, Hard, Veteran, and Realistic) and, it has a 'A-I' ajuster that you can turn on or off, basically, if you start at easy and you rock the game, it gets harder. If you start on Realistic, and you totally blow, it gets easier.

Far Cry is the second best FPS ever made.

Level design is fantastic, blending vast open islandscapes with cramped military bases, there's an insane amount of detail put into each level, the physics are ungodly fun to screw with, and it manages to do more in the first level than most first person shooters do in an entire game.

The storyline is like a b action movie and the voice acting and animation reinforce it with exagerated death animations and awesomely cheesy one liners.

AI uses some really awesome dynamic teamwork.

There's a level called "Rebellion" that's one of the best FPS levels ever created. An entire war is being waged and you're caught right in the middle of it... there's multiple ways to go through the level (which is a massive island), and the first time I played, I wound up doing the whole damn level on foot. The last time I got as wrapped up and involved in something so massive and immersive was in Operation Flashpoint.

The netcode for the multiplayer, unfortunatly, sucks. If the guy running the server has a fat pipe then it's a good bit of fun, but most cable/dsl connections are worefully inequiped to handle the needs, unfortunatly. Multiplayer was fun as hell back in the beta test and it's still fun as hell today.

So yea, the only FPS I liked more was Half Life 2 (and number 3 is still Tron 2.0 :) ).

Yeah, I'm not really sure about that. I've never been a big console FPS fan, but who knows I might rent it when it comes out or something.
