Interest check: Just looking for a few opinions.

Hola gang.

I'm currently in the process of putting together a few birthday gifts for some friends using those Perler beads that seem to be so popular and trendy at the moment.

Namely some nice video game themed coasters (see: mushrooms) and fridge magnets (see: centipede stuff) - that type of thing. I think they look neat, they always spark some discussion, and everyone I've made them for thus far has really loved 'em since they're all video game geeks like me (and of course, because they were free LOL).

Anyway, reason I'm asking: I'm planning to be up at East Coast Gaming Expo again this year, and was thinking about making a few sets of coasters and magnets to take up there and toss out on the table for sale alongside everything else - but I thought I'd try and gauge a bit of interest first.

Would you spend like $15 for a set of 4 mushroom coasters? $20 for a 15 piece set of Centipede fridge magnets? Or would you not buy 'em at all? Too tacky? Or pretty neat?

I am not going to CGE but they sure are cool. I might not pay $15, maybe more along the lines of $10-12 for the mushrooms. Centipede I am not sure on honestly, but I wouldent pay $20.

The concept is neat, but I wouldn't want mushroom coasters. If the coasters were four different systems, such as N64, DC, PSX and Saturn, I would like that. I guess I am trying to say that you might want a little variety of things, though I imagine it can be difficult to do more intricate items with those.

Those are nice.

I have a bucket of those beads but all it came with was really small bead board things so I can't make bigger nice looking things. Where did you get those huge boards?
