OK gang. Time for another Jibbajaba signature contest! This one is going to be the best one yet. I designed this contest to be aimed towards our unfortunate brothers and sisters who will be unable to attend the 2005 Classic Gaming Expo.

Here's the straight skinny from Mr. Perry Freeze of Messiah:


Sitting at home wishing you were at CGE? Worried that the Generation NEX systems available at the show are already sold out? Messiah and Digital Press have a solution for you! We understand that not everyone is able to make the trek to San Francisco, so we want to give Digital Press members only a chance to be a part of an exclusive piece of CGE history. Messiah is donating a Generation NEX system, which is making its debut at the CGE, and a set of Limited Edition 2.4 GHZ Wireless NES Controllers to the winner of the NES History contest! Be the first to correctly identify all 50 NES games from the hints below, and you’ll win a piece of history! If no one is able to get all 50, the prize will be awarded to the first person who correctly identifies the most as of Sunday, 8/21 at 3:00 PST.

You're reading that right. In a partnership with Digital Press, Messiah is giving away one NEX console and one set of Limited Edition Wireless NES controllers to one lucky DPer!!!

The contest will begin on Friday at 3:00 PM Pacific time. At that time, I will post a link in this thread to the official contest web site. You will then have exactly 48 hours to send in your entry. The first person to get a perfect score will be the winner. If no perfect score is sent in by 3:00 PM on Sunday, the highest-scoring entry will be declared the winner.

People attending CGE will be just as eligible to enter, but trust me, you aren't going to have time for this if you are at the expo.

The contest is open to all Digital Press members, but you MUST be a member to enter.

I'll post updates as things come to me. Feel free to post any and all comments or questions in this thread.

I wanted to make something clear about this contest. I've met two people so far here at CGE who are under the impression that they can't enter because they are here. ANYONE can enter, but I doubt you will have time to figure out all 50 games if you are having fun at CGE. The contest is designed to take a while to do. That's why it's so hard.

I had at least 40 right.

The funny thing is that I spent all of my spare time this past weekend playing NES roms and cross referencing Mike Etler's list, seeing if I could try and find clues to the garbled game titles.

The part that pisses me off is that I was going to guess "Destiny Of An Emperor" for #17 but decided against it because I didn't find it (or probably missed it on Etler's NES list).

The other games that I know I missed were Gauntlet (#6), Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (#31), R.C. Pro Am (#8), Final Fantasy (#10), Bad Street Brawler (#14 - I thought this was "Total Recall", which also has midgets, and dogs), Dragon Warrior (#35), Barbie (#40 - I will obvsiouly miss this one since I have never played this game, due to it's content. LOL) and Excitebike (#47).


Dammit. I need to spend more time playing games.

To think....

I only lost by three questions. The part that eats me up the most? I was playing Dragon Warrior, Excitebike, Gauntlet and R.C. Pro Am, trying to figure out if some of those sound samples were from those games. It looks like I didn't spend enough time playing them, since I was also racking my brain trying to figure out those wicked garbled game titles.


So, I reckon, I got about 41 right, according to the answers which were just revealed. I only lost by three, but I still lost. :(


Oh well, congrats to the winner. Enjoy your goodies. Please tell us if those items are cool, as I plan on buying one at some point.
