I just found this and It makes me excited for NHL 2k6 :)
I normally don't buy any sports game more than one year in a row but this is my exception I am pumped for NHL 2k6,
I am surprised that they decided to keep the price this year as well but good for them and us. :D
Confirmed: NHL 2K6 to hit stores for under $20
Marty Turco graces American box art while Canadian, European audiences get Mats Sundin.
With everything else about the NHL a far cry from the way it was a year ago--thanks to a new collective bargaining agreement and the high-stakes game of superstar musical chairs known as free agency--it's nice to see some things remain the same.
To little surprise, 2K Games today announced that the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of its hockey sim NHL 2K6 would carry the same $19.99 price tag as its 2K5 predecessor.
Somewhat more surprising is the announcement that 2K6 will sport different cover athletes depending on where you buy it. American copies of the game will feature Dallas Stars netminder Marty Turco, while Canadian and European versions will sport the Swedish-born Toronto Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin.
Check out GameSpot's Spot On feature for more on NHL 2K6 and how the league's recent turmoil has affected development of all major hockey games this year.

Thats good to know.
In another thread, I was saying how I don't think I'll buy it. Now, I think I might have too. :-P

Well I'll definitely be buying this, but I want the Mats Sundin cover, not Marty Turco! I'll have to get onee from Canada or something.

I think it's funny that NHL games are being published this year considering the fact that the NHL has been inactive all year. Unless there are serious new features & refinements, it would be senseless to pick up a game which lacks updated stats and rosters.
I do like ESPN NHL 2K5 a bunch, though. If the improvements are as substantial as those 2K2 to 2K5, I'll consider it.

What updates are there to speak of? I tuned out on the NHL when the lockout began, but I was under the impression that no changes have happened since the lockout started.

I've never bothered playing sports games, but as a hockey fan it's hard to ignore the game at that price.

For that price I will bite. Hopefully a lot more classic teams to be added, and finally put on a Nordiques team with all 3 stastney brothers plaese. Some classic team Canada teams, esp 72, and the 72 Russian team.
I honestly don't see how they can improve on last years game, but it'll be interesting to see if they do. 2K5 is phenomenal.
They took hockey and made a FUN video game with lots of things to unlock, buy and do.

I'm glad they kept the price, but I'm not sure if I'm going to get it. I didn't play much of last year's and 360 is right around the corner.
