The last two days i visited the English coast, for a little get away...
We couldnt go anywhere nice this year as my family is real busy, im doing driving lessons and to be honest i dont think we had enough money for a proper holiday this year...
So a 2 day break was good... I Decided to check out all the arcade to see if i could find anything decent...

In my opinon the Arcade we used to love have died!
I Did not find one single Simpsons Arcade game cabinet whatsoever, due to that, a part of me died inside :P
The game i loved as a kid had disappeared from the coasts of england, possibly to some collectors garage...
The same with most the machines really, the oldest i could find was a Track and Field, however this was so battered in, player 1's controls didnt work and i lost 10p on that :P

I managed to find a few decent cabs, but all the good ones i remember from a kid have been replaced by TIme Crisis, Sega Rally and so on...

These pictures are from Arcades in Scarborough and Whitby on the North East Coast of England.
I appologise for the quality of some of the images, i took my crappy camera on hols instead of the Canon Powershot jsut incase anythign happened...

Thank God for Mame!

Anyways ill leave you some pics and info!

This was a sorta Gambling machine... You know the ones you put 2p into and it pushes more 2p's till some fall... (i dont know the exact name of them)
It was also combined with a Bust a Move style game/screen...
If you look in the pictures youll see some Squares sticking out on the back...
If a coin fell through this slot, a "Bust A Move" Shaped circle with fruit was thrown into the screen...
If you combined the fruit (In a BaM style), the Machine threw extra coins onto the piece which pushes coins down.
My cousins got a huuuuuge combo and had 50 2p coins brought into play and ended up with a huge load of 2p's being pushed out!
Despite how cool it was, i really dont enjoy these machines as all you do is put your money back... Good to see Pac Man Though!

This has to be the BIGGEST CAB EVER!
Its a walk in cab, see the seats inside... there are 5 seats for 5 players, each with like a flight controller to play a 3d version of Galaxian!!!
It was quite a basic game, but still a nice thing to play...
Size wise, im estimating its 15 foot by 25 foot.... maybe bigger!

This is probably one of my most favourite arcade games ever... and i only just realised this holiday Namco made it...
The amount of cash ive pumped into these Whack a croc games in unbelievable!
This one however had died... 2 of the Crocs were irresponsive... Shame as its such a great little game!

If i had another player with me at the time, i would have played this all night! Unfortunately i didnt :(

The Beaten to death Track and Field Cab... :(

The usual Time Crisis Cab and the Star Wars Arcade cab I HAD to play! I love that game!

Outrunners!! I was pleased to find this however i didnt have enough time to play it...

This amazed me! Since when was Resi Evil in the arcades!
Played this for a short while, was great... Probably due to the fact i love Resi Evil :P

And finally! I Found a Space Invaders and Qix Silver Anniversary Cab!
Here i am enjoying this baby! Was a great find... I Never realised how hard the arcade version of Qix was!

So all in all, there were some great cabs as shown, but all you see now is most of them being replaced by newer games... Shame really!

I only know of 2 arcades. One was filled with those coin pushers and the other one mainly had second rate racers.

It's a shame arcades have gone so downhill recently. They all seem to focus on graphics with fairly bad gameplay. I'd gladly go to an arcade with oldschool games like Street Fighter 2 and (if it existed, it seems like an arcade game) Streets of Rage, and maybe even pacman.

Damn! I'd love to play that Biohazard Gun Survivor Code Veronica. I'd heard about it but I've NEVER seen one :( That game sounds so awesome. RE games should all be light gun games with plots! :D Solve puzzles by....SHOOTING THINGS! Kill things by....SHOOTING THINGS! Stop evil by...SHOOTING THINGS! How can you go wrong with a recipe like that??

Ugh.... Way to go and change your avatar again. Does this mean I have to change the picture in my "How well do you know your DP avatars" thread. Nobody knew you to begin with, now this will be even harder:P
ON topic, looks like a bunch of cool stuff. Its hard to tell from the quality of pictures, but that Space Invaders cab looks to be in pretty nice shape.

Yes, I agree that RE Gun Survivor 2 Code Veronica was cool.

I got this imported Japanese Ps2 game:

I assume its the same as the arcade version, but I've never had the opportunity to play one.

The Dave and Buster arcade in Atlanta GA has that Galaxian 3 game... I thought it was amazing and must have blown about $20 playing it. Certainly not an experiance that you can recreate at home.
