View Full Version : Does next-gen consoles mean end of Resi re-issues?

Resident Evil. One of the most drawn out franchises I can think of.
Resident Evil II has been on almost every console since it was released on the PlayStation, including the N64; DreamCast; And lately re-issued on the GameCube...
Will games like Resi II and III be re-issued again on the new machines? Or is the GameCube version the last we shall see of these re-issues?
Maybe Capcom will finally get around to remaking II, III, and CV as they once promised for the GameCube...
Will we also see a definite end to the Resident Evil series on the new consoles?

I hope they concentrate on new titles of the RE series. I really like the remakes, they are great to play again. But seeing only remakes is not the sense of new consoles. I like to play really new games, an not just the same games with new graphic engines. RE4 was great :)

I hope so, but no one can milk a franchise quite like Capcom, so I gotta say no.

Megaman is the worst offender, but I think we're about due for a Street Fighter game...

Hey, maybe they can't count to four? A SF IV would be nice though... Took them long enough to get to Resident Evil IV though, taking a small detour backwards down to zero and back up again...

Yeah, but Street Fighter had a Zero (Alpha). THREE TIMES. We need Street Fighter 4, or at least something to fill the void of Marvel Vs. Capcom.

Yeh, capcom knows you can't get anywhere without going through Zero first.

Street Fighter (1987) Street Fighter Zero (1997-1999)

Why the hell would they want to REmake code veronica? its pretty much perfect as is. Well on DC anyway sure the PS2 version has extras but it just "feels" right when playing it on the system it was originally designed for.
I would much rather see a REmake of part 3 NEMESIS than the overhyped waaaay overated part 2 ;)
I think the release of RE4 on PS2 and RE5 will be the last Resident Evils for a while capcom said no more sidestories of course this is Capcom were talking about.
Anyway part 5 is a looong ways off the Demo was just that a DEMO not in game gameplay or anything like that. it took a lot of effort just to put the demo together.
Bottom line is it could be another 2 years or more before we see RE5 on Xbox360 and PS3.

I wish they'd get around to milking Steel Battalion. But no, it's the red-headed stepchild Xbox game. Alas.

but I think we're about due for a Street Fighter game...< I second that.
Its a great time for a Final Streetfighter 4.
Hell the possible storylines are endless.
Maybe with an aged and perfected RYU finally becoming a Grandmaster.
A final showdown with Shen long and Akuma.
The Return of Bison or Balrog depending on where u live ;)
anyway got a off-topic but oh well.

Nah Street Fighter is a dead Series. SF3 did that. I say leave the series dead, it's been milked to death. Same goes for Megaman.
Now RE on the other hand has some potential, but i really don't want capcom to make a bunch of remakes. If they're gonna do it, let them do it now and then never do it again.

If they had the original Resident Evil games remade with the general gameplay of RE4, I'd buy all of them.

Megaman Zero didn't mean like, the one before the first one. It was refering to the actual charater named Zero, and his backstory. It was logical. But yeah, they still totally milk everything.
I'm pretty sure that they wont remake the games again, based on pretty much nothing. But, I think I remember reading that RE5 was going to be a straight sequal to the first game. None of the games were really direct sequals, they were all mostly just side stories, or 'later'. So, the original stories will be closed, but there are always more on the horizon.
