Does anyone hate the sounds Link makes when he jumps or swings his sword? I wish I could turn it off but leave the music on....

That's it? :hmm: If you had said something to the effect of "this is the 15th game in the series, and it's always the exact same boring, easy, overrated quest in this tired, uninspired and uninspiring series... plus Link is a ****** character", I would have agreed.

It's too bad he didn't say that, and that most people wouldn't either ;)

How about this reason.

I despise the N64 titles. Plain and simple I have played them both (in detail) and I never liked them. I love the NES, SNES and GBA titles but…..well, there’s no use repeating myself. I was one of the 3 people that didn’t complain when Wind Waker was announced; I actually liked the change in graphics. I liked Wind Waker and when I found out that Twilight Princess was back to the N64 “adult” look and theme, I completely lost interest. I guess I’m back to waiting for another 2D GBA title.

Hooray.

That's as dumb as people hating WindWaker for IT'S graphics.

I loved the LOOK of Wind Waker, especially after the link redesign.

But the game itself was terrible. Part of Zelda's charm has always been that it's quite challenging. Yet, it in this game, you had timed attacks that could kill an enemy in a very simple manner, most enemies could take at MOST one heart from you, and it seemed like every third or fourth enemy you killed dropped one of those little black balls with three or four hearts in it. The game was too damn easy, and too damn simplistic. Even as a child I would have laughed at the difficulty.

And that's why I'M not looking forward to Twilight Princess. From what I hear, the timed hits are returning, and I can only assume the rest of the terrible gameplay aspects from Wind Waker will be carrying over. Congratulations, Nintendo. This will be the first Zelda game (not counting Majora's Mask, which snuck up on me) that I haven't purchased on launch day.

Thats pretty funny. I do know what you mean though. Whats up with that sound? Who makes that sound when they hit somebody with the sword....
"SHhhheeeeeeehhaaaaaa!!!"
As for the argument going on within this thread about whether or not the Zelda series is/isn't still good. I think its still amazing. I thought Windwaker was awesome (but yes... a little easy) and Ocarina was, well... Ocarina.

I'm actually looking forward to it. Windwaker was fine except for the STUPID boat and mindless island hopping. I'll agree that the N64 games were horrible imo, so I guess I can be the fourth person on the planet that hated OOT (I never played majora's mask since I hated oot so bad, but I DO plan on playing it sometime)

At least twilight princess has some different graphics, that's one reason to play it anyways.

Note the word “theme” placed in the mix as well. I didn’t like where the series went with the two N64 titles and based on the info provided, that’s where it’s returning. Thus the word “theme”. I’m not that closed minded.

What do you mean by "I didn’t like where the series went with the two N64 titles." I found it to be very similar to previous Zelda games (example: A Link to the Past). Obviously, the view going from top-down to a third-person view is a big change, but really can't think of what else had changed.

I like how you put really heavy emphasis on a grammatical mistake.

Have you played the GBA port of Link to the Past? They filled the game with all the "skanks", and "sheeaahs" from Ocarina of Time that you can handle.

Can't be anywhere near as annoying as Mario's "Just What I Needed" from the GBA port of World.

Heh, haven't played it but thanks for the warning.

It seems Nintendo will no longer release a Mario game with out filling the damn thing with "Yippees" and "Let's a Go".

I just realized this plays right into my rant about how I hate when the character you play in modern RPGs speaks. I guess I'm just a fan of the silent protagonist on the whole.

The voice acting of the main characters in most RPGs seems to be directed towards 13 year olds these days. You would think RPG developers would want more generalization in order to draw a larger crowd.

I know, I just thought it was funny. The correct spelling there would be "its," with no apostrophe, which is quite possibly the most retarded exception in our entlre language.

Hey, there are some people who are disappointed that Twilight Princess won't have full-blown voice acting... I'm definitely not one of those people, but I'm just saying everyone has an opinion.

I'm disappointed by the voice clips in the re-releases as well. I don't dislike the voices per se, but when tacked onto the classics, they sound wrong.

I'm not sure what to think about that. I don't know whether or not I'd prefer voices or not. As you probably think, I think that voice overs would probably ruin the Zelda-feel in the game. However, sometimes when I'm playing my Zelda games, and theres a bunch of stuff to read, I always think about why there isn't voices in it.

It's confusing, yes, but it makes (slightly more) sense when you know the reasoning behind it. English it a terribly atupid and illogical language though, and I can say that for certain being that I've devoted the last four years of my life to learning the intricacies of it. My personal favorite stupid english rule is that the words "everyone", "anyone", "anybody", and "everybody" are to be treated as singular nouns instead of plural, although they obviously refer to a larger group of people. Hence:
"Did anyone lose their purse?" is incorrect while
"Did anyone lose her purse?" is correct. Sounds wrong to you? Yeah, to me too. That's why English is a stupid language.

Uh....sorry for the completey off topic rant.

I do agree that voice acting can really ruin modern games. Who here has played Megaman X7? "Burntotheground, Burntotheground, Burntotheground". How about the new Ninja turtles game? If I hear "Slice and Dice!" one more time, I swear to god....

Of course, voice acting can enhance a game (MGS1 - 3, for example) but I find that this is the case in very few instances. Specifically, I wish they'd leave the RPGs alone and let the dialogue speak for itself. Oh, wait. Most new RPGs have terrible dialogue and rely on pretty movie sequences.....ah well.

"Everybody" makes sense when you read it as "every body". Likewise for the others.

Obligatory, on-topic comment: ... damn it. I've got nothing.

As a die-hard Zelda fan, I find it hard to believe that anyone could hate the N64 versions and some people LOVE Wind Waker, but then I stop being such a dork and realize that some people have different tastes and I just shrug and go back to whatever I was doing before I went temporarily retarded. However, in my personal opinion, Twilight Princess looks like the greatest Zelda game in years, I already have $35 down on my reserved copy at GameStop, I'm hella pissed that they delayed it to next year, and I thought Wind Waker was the biggest disappointment in the Zelda franchise NOT counting the CD-i games. And Majora's Mask was OK but I LOVED Ocarina. It's a tie for my all-time favorite Zelda along with the original. Although I do have a soft spot for the GameBoy games

To each his own, I always say.

It’s hard to put my finger on why I disliked the N64 titles. One thing could be that I played them later in the game (say around 1999/2000) and another could be that I hate the entire look of N64 titles. The blurry, out of focus graphics in both the Zelda titles really bothered me. The entire face of the game was changed as well. I found wandering around in the N64 titles to be annoying and every thing just seemed pointless. Those titles were too vast. I also found myself fighting the environment more than the enemies, example: Oops, I fell off the mountain again; I guess I have to go back and do it over for the 4th time.

I liked Wind Waker for it’s originality and overall appearance, more so that either of the two N64 titles. What I really liked was Minish Cap on the GBA, I wish a new Zelda title more like that would come out on the Gamecube.

i loved the n64 titles

i loved minish cap

dont care for the nes ones, and have yet to get to lttp. never played any of the other gb/gbc/gba titles

wind waker was great, but the damn boat and the freaking mindless sailing got tiring in like 5 minutes. otherwise it was great.

i have no doubt that tTP will be amazing. that sucks it got delayed, but now i can anticipate it's release just a bit longer :)

the thing pisses me off is the developers give a rough date then a solid date and the games are still delayed.
