(link to the auction - http://cgi.ebay.ca/Lot-Of-80-Super-Nintendo-Games_W0QQitemZ8212804274QQcategoryZ62053QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem)
Although this auction is now over. I warn you not to bid on his other items:
http://search.ebay.ca/_W0QQsassZforevernight123
I believe ALL of this guys auctions are fake. Take a look at the stuff he has for auction:
All his auctions are very popular items!
All his auction photo have a differnt backround to it!!
Do any of you out there think this is legit ?
If not I think ebay should be notified!

It does seem more than a little suspicious.
Especially when they've got no feedback. And also when these 3 lots use the same grainy picture when other lots have got big pictures.

Also when he has pictures of some lots but stock pictures of others.
Some of the carpets are the same (green ones)
I wouldn't bid on auctions with less than 50 feedback and I certainly wouldn't bid on these ones.

I feel like informing eBay about this one. I mean that guys going overboard! He's going to take everyones money and run. I already contacted the winner of the 80 game SNES lot (the one with Earthbound and Chrono Trig etc...) His name is Sossafan or something like that. I've seen his name in many video game auctions. Is he someone from here ? I don't think any of us are inexperenced enough to fall for this crap.

Bullshit seller or not you DO realize that it's also against eBay's rules to interfere with another person's auction don't you? Contacting the winning bidder's on another person's auctions and telling them not to pay is a sure fire way to get your account suspended.
Insaneclown

I would never buy from a guy that has zero feedback. Fuck that shit.

Good point.... didn't realize this. There could be a small chance that his auctions are real. Maybe he's congsigning the items for friends and took the photos at their houses using their cameras :roll: I didn't tell the buyer NOT to pay I just warned him of my suspicions!

Wouldn't that require some sort of proof? The people at Ebay have enough trouble catching crooks and now you are telling me they are going to suspend someones account for letting a buyer know that a seller is being dishonest? I think you are being totally unrealistic here.

Here's the rules; straight from eBay.
* Members are not allowed to interfere with another member's transaction.
* Members may not contact a seller and offer to purchase a listed item outside of eBay.
* Members are not permitted to email buyers in an open or completed transaction to warn them away from a seller or item. If you have a problem with a transaction, please use the feedback forum and review our Fraud Protection Program.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
* Listing cancellation
* Limits on account privileges
* Account suspension
* Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
* Loss of PowerSeller status

I am not disputing the policy Griking. I am only commenting on what is more a problem for Ebay. Is it dishonest sellers who sell misleading products or buyers offering information to other buyers about possible fraud? If Ebay is going to go out of the way to suspend people for warning buyers about fraud I think Ebay could eventually have a public relations problem that would harm them more than the people who are breaking the rules to help others. Actually I think this rule :
Members are not permitted to email buyers in an open or completed transaction to warn them away from a seller or item. If you have a problem with a transaction, please use the feedback forum and review our Fraud Protection Program.
Is a crock. Ebay does a very poor job handling complaints through the feedback forum. It's like all else on Ebay. The sellers are given maximum protection and buyers are on their own. I am forced to use Ebay now since it is the only way to get what I want for classic gaming collecting. If some other service came along that had similar selection, but better buyer protection I would jump on it and drop Ebay in a heartbeat. As it stands I see no problem breaking the rules to help a fellow buyer, since Ebay does little to help the general consumer.

I'm guessing you are not a seller, are you?
Because if you sold any significant amount of stuff you would probably be aware that Ebay don't give a huge amount of protection to sellers either. Basically, eBay protect their own asses, and do little more than the bare minimum beyond that for anything else.
The only reason that this actually works is because the vast majority of people are pretty honest. More honest than most businesses, in fact.

Hmmm .. as for this seller ... his auctions finished 21st August. Looks like he got Paypal-ed some money, and immediately spent it all on a TON of BIN DVDs.

I have never said I sell anything on Ebay. I am a video game collector and I have never sold anything on Ebay. I generally trade or give away my unwanted games to friends and family. I agree that Ebay does little to protect buyers and sellers. I just found that rule about warning a buyer about a seller a little one sided toward the seller. If I see a person about to get ripped off I can't say anything to that person according to ebay rules. All I can do is let Ebay know about my suspicions which will result in nothing being done. Ebay should encourage self policing better. The crappy feedback forum that they use is a lot harder (and usually results in nothing getting done) than simply emailing the potential victim.
Since Ebay usually only gets involved with high end fraud I think it is better that Ebay encourage more direct means for Ebay shoppers to help each other out.

That's just what we need, a bunch of eBay vigilantes all doing their own thing enforcing (in their own way) only the rules that suits them or the ones thay they agree with. As both a long time buyer and seller on eBay, I'm willing to take my chances with eBay's way of doing things over total chaos thank you very much.

I think eBay should enforce some rules on newbies. There should be a limit to the number of auctions per month that a newb can post.... a limit to the total revenue generated etc. To me, eBay seems like a great place for criminals to grab some quick cash. ASSUMING this guy's auctions are scams - He's going to bring is well over $1000. Man, I'd laugh if his auctions were legit O_O LOL

So what happens if you warn a bidder about a possibly fraudulant seller, the bidder, because of your email doesn't pay and then the seller turned out to be completely legit? Just like the real world law, you can't punish somebody over a crime that they haven't committed yet.

WOW X_x
I thought this scam was going to be bad but not this bad!
After being on ebay for only 6 days our friend forevernight123 has sold $8,479.26 worth of videogame items.

How can eBay just sit there and let this happen. I'm 100% positive eBay has a program that can warn them of suspicious activity (e.g. when a newbie is making so much in the first couple of days of joining!)
I'm sure some newbies make a lot when they first join but seriously! most probably end in the seller running with the cash.

But, its pretty obv. its a scam.

I think its absolutely amazing that someone would purchase a lot of 7 PSPs from a seller who at the time had absolutely no feedback at all. The only possible way that I would consider it would be if the seller lived local to the winner and the winner was going to pick up the item personally.

The negatives are starting to come in :roll:
Negative feedback from a guy who won the "1 Playstation 2 Slim & 1 Playstation One + Games:" auction:
"Dude,I have this funny feeling U R gonna give Canada a VERY BAD name"
As a Canadian, I take offence to this one LOL I mean, I've been scanning the Canadian video game auctions for years. This is one of the only auctions I've ever seen that has been such a blatant scam! At least I tried to warn as many gamers as I could by posting this warning. I even tried to contact some of the winners to express my concern.

Just because you warn someone about fraud that does not make you guilty for the action the bidder takes. Obviously the buyer is still obligated to fullfill their end and send payment. So the argument that mass chaos would ensue still does not fly.
Also, it seems in the seller in question for this thread is a legitimate scammer and the buyers could benefit from some outside help. Ebay certainly won't help.
