When setting up a sellers account on eBay...

is it required to give a checking account number? My dad still believes that everyone on the internet is a scammer, and obviously he is not too big on giving his checking account number out. My brother said that when he set one up he did not give his, but I think this was a while ago. Is there any way around this? Thanks a lot.

Not sure if this is the same, but when I first signed up on Ebay I tried to use a hotmail address. Then I had to enter my creditcard number so they could validate.
But this didnt work so I used another e-mail address instead. Then I didnt have to validate with a creditcard number.

I have only sold 1 thing on Ebay and I dont remember if I had to write in my creditcard number then, dont think so atleast.
