Today I saw a Bubble Bobble 2 cart with the number:
NES-BQ-HKG
Is this a Hong Kong release? And is it a official NES release or a pirate? The logo looks just like the USA release.

I've only seen one copy of this game in my life, the one I bought off ebay, and the label has NES-BQ-USA.

I've got a pirate Bubble Bobble 2 cart (for the GBA, so it's super pirated) -- the label on it has got the same markings. Not saying the HK one is pirate, just mentioning there's a shitload of pirates of that game on all sorts of platforms in Asia.

the hong kong picture of the game looks fake, the label looks too small... every nes game i have seen pal/american/hong kong have allways had the labe take up the entire box, the label in the pic seems to end at a point thus losing a small
%age of the overall size

hong kong, unlike china, vietnam, taiwan, etc. was a legitimate asian market for nintendo. i've got a HK NES set myself, with box, etc. i would put money on this being legit, seeing as pirates almost never include nintendo's logo on their product (just one more thing nintendo would charge them with once they were caught).
as a side note, the reason hong kong used the NES standard rather than the famicom standard was to thwart foreseen piracy from the chinese/taiwanese famiclone market. all these factors bundle together to tell me that this is probably a legitimate cart.

The graphics on the label do look a little grainy though. Is it shiny in person?

Oh, ferchissakes people, that's a legit Hong Kong release.
I swear, you could post any fucking picture in the world, and someone here would cry "fake!"
No-ones going to go to the effort of making a convincing replica like that only to stick a -HKG suffix on it and ring alarm bells to the vast swarthe of collectors who automatically think anything that isn't US, Japenese or European must be phoney.

I thought that only titles distributed by Nintendo themselves were released as Hong Kong Version (HKG) and Asian Version (ASI)? Also, don't HKG games have a circular seal instead of an oval seal?
Other than that it does look legit. ;)

It does look gelit, but I thought that only the early Nintendo games were officially released in Hong Kong and Asia.
