Is this for real or did someone just get creative with some black paint? I've never heard of a black SNES.

Somebody got creative. That SNES looks like shit, especially with some of the pieces still being grey.

That thing is sweet. But shame on the seller for making it seem rare.

Wasn't there a black SNES released with a Killer Instinct cart? Or was I dreaming that.

That must have been you that asked about the chili dogs at the end of the Sonic world.

The Killer Instinct cart is black and it was bundled with a SNES so it could have been real. But since the whole SNES isnt black its most likely homemade ye.

The KI bundle included a standard SNES system. I can't think of any special SNES/SFC systems being made.

If you'll notice, he also sold a "rare white Genesis" previously and the buyer comments about the Genesis not working due to the paint dripping in the cart slot. LOL

I saw a seller once selling the same thing, he also went on to describe how he can paint a system any color you want and sell it to you.

also, that guy is an idiot if he is painting systems without taking them apart first. Of course paint is going to get in places where it isnt supposed to and possibly ruin the hardware. That genesis does look really sweet though.

I am currently working on the exact same project. Except I have taken the entire SNES apart and am painting every part. Mine will look sweet when finished. The only thing that will be the original color will be the purple buttons, and the very inner parts of the controller ports. Everything is very easy to take apart and paint. I will post photos of my finished product, and links to the auction if I decide to list it. I am probably a weekend away from having the painting done. I will post as soon as everythign is back together.

What precautions have to be taken when painting plastic casing for electronics? Because the systems get warm or even hot when palyed for a long time, will this effect the paint somehow? Also what can be done to assure that the paint won't rub or peel off? Is a clear-coat used after the paint is done?

You can get paint that bonds to plastic, Thats what I used to make my Famicom Dreamcast and I have never had any issues with the paint.

I am going to clear coat my finished product. If you think about it the SNES unit doesn't really get touched all that much. Just the top part where you would slide the buttons. I think that the paint would come right off if you even attempted to paint the controllers, so I don't think I will be painting those.

Probably because it said it would play US and Japaneese games. Which means it was modded, but in the SNES case that means that the inner tabs had been removed. Still looked like poop!
