in a fight between Ryu and Shinobi... Who would win?

My vote goes to Ryu. He's got more moves. Plus he would look cool as hell while performing said ass kicking.

Gotta be Ryu, he's a modern Super-Ninja.

Shinobi. No question. Shuriken+soul sucking Akujiki=TATE! :vamp: (I am thinking of the right Shinobi right?)

Ryu doesn't stand a chance against Musashi's Kariu magic while being nailed in the head with a futuristic surfboard. ;)

Ryu Hayabusa is awesome. I think he could definetly take on Shinobi.

Ryu's Fire Wheel on the NES games would obliterate Shinobi!

Shinobi, he's got ninja stars and shit and Ryu is just a punk

I think my avatar pretty much tells you who I voted for ;)

Shinobi's cool and all, but Ryu just has the upper-hand in charisma alone.

The fact that I've been playiing XBox Ninja Gaiden like crazy recently means that I have to vote for Ryu.

Hey those birds were evil super birds. No man was a match for them. Now the bats on the other hand...

Ryu. The enemies that he destroyed seem to have been tougher than Joe Musashi's opposition, which makes him a better combatant.

In a hand to hand fight, Ryu wins. In a fight with weapons involved, Joe Musashi (as a master of ninjitsu), would be a lock to win.

Joe Musashi would win.

That mofo took on Batman, Spider-man, Godzilla & a Mecha Godzilla knock off.

Fire Wheel be damned, them be master ninja skills taking on that cast of characters!

And just who's mess did Ryu have to clean up in the first Ninja Gaiden? Yup, that's right.....Shinobi's.

I'm going with Ryu on this one. He's got more personality than Joe, which coud be a detriment in battle. If one's emotions is to interfere in the heat of battle, it will not be easy to focus on the fight... yeah, fucdat. Ryu's got Phantom Doubles. CASE CLOSED!

It's gotta be Ryu. Hands down.

c'mon, ryu not only dies constantly from pidgeons, but he also is in perpetual worry about that tramp irene. joe kills superheroes and helicopters with only a limited supply of ninja stars and can do it all while on horseback

My vote goes for Ryu as well.
Mainly because I like the Street Fighter Series and not the Shinobi series. :P

I think it needs to be explained that the "Ryu" the original poster is talking about is NOT Ryu from Street Fighter fame, but the Ryu from Ninja Gaiden. I bet this confused many who read this thread (including me).

Joe Musashi (More commonly known as Shinobi).

BTW, that Spider-Man knockoff? Not a knockoff. Look at the opening copyright notice in Revenge of Shinobi. It says Spider-Man is copyright Marvel. Would they have to put that in if it was just a knockoff?

Yeah, probably. Still, though, he did take on a cooler crew, rode a futuristic surfboard, and could blow himself up AT WILL and regain all his energy. Also had a double jump earlier on, I think.

Mecha-Godzilla knockoff, not Spider-man.

To figure this out we have to go to the SOURCE and I aint talking about future b.s. xbox/ps2/NES/Genesis iterations of these guys (love them as I do).. but their actual original selves in all their primal original vision glory. :)

Arcade Shinobi: He shot throwing stars by the dozens and had a few physical attacks when up close to an enemy (kicking?). Had magic that could only be used once but killed everyone, or at least damaged them significantly. Pretty much died with one hit.

Ryu of Ninja Gaiden arcade: Was a pure punch & kick brawler who's primary move was somersaulting over guys and grabbing their neck to throw them. Could hold on to ceilings & poles and kick with both legs. His one main power up was a sword. Could take a lot hits before dying.

The Fight? Ryu would struggle to get in close and nail Shinobi with his feet/fists, or a sword... each of which would instantly vanquish his foe. Shinobi on the other hand would keep his distance and throw shurikens to keep Ryu at bay. If Ryu got close, Shinobi would unleash his magic.

The verdict: Shinobi :D

shinobi all the way

arcade versions - shinobi wins

console versions - shinobi wins

my perseption of the 2 is : shinobi is a real life bred ninja- heavily trained in mystical powers and ryu is a bas ass guy masquerading as a ninja who picked up some mystical tricks

im not considering the xbox ryu - to me thats a diferent character - its ninja gaiden but like in a parallel universe or something -- also i never played the game but from what i saw of it the ryu on the xbox seems closer to my version of shinobi - but, like i said i never played the game and dont know anything about that character

That Marvel crediting wasn't in the original release.

Shinobi's got a dog that can do the killing for him.

Thus Shinobi wins.
