Playstation : Very Long Deep sound

Sega Saturn : One of the Quickest

Sega Dreamcast: Soothing Sounds

Playstation 2 : Sonys Cube World

Xbox: A Blob then an X
http://www.redifer.com/startup/xbox.mov
Gamecube: Cubes,Funny Sounds,Huge Cube
http://www.redifer.com/startup/gamecube.mov
Gameboy: Simple Nintendo Logo
GBC: A colorfull Gameboy Logo
GBA: A 32 Bit Colorfull Logo
3DO: A Square Circle Triangle that sits around the screen while disk loads.
Neo-Geo:Ive never seen this one,can someone help me?
Arari Jaguar: Quick Logo,RAR!
Nintendo DS: Simple Nintendo then DS with a sound.
PSP:Havent Seen this one either
N-Gadge: The Last I havent Seen
And i think thats it,my personal favorate is the anoying but kind of funny sega master start up sound. Hope i dint miss any, remember they have to have a bios(meaning a game dosent have to be inserted for it to go to a bios like N64,Atari 2600,Sega Genesis, etc.)

Dreamcast all the way. It is just so soothing and has a very clean look to it. 8-)

The 'Cube. It's very playful in nature.
The PS One has to be the worst. The sound was a like a dial up modem and a cat being repeatedly slammed into a wall together.

I would say Dreamcast. It is somehow synonomous with quality in my mind. Second is PSP. Quick and clean.

I dont even have one, but my vote also goes for the DC its just... good.

I actually like the Playstation's start up. Only because I recall going through it so much. Dreamcast's start up isn't bad, either.

The NGage one isn't very thrilling. First the backlight comes on with a white screen, then a little Nokia logo shows up in blue on the bottom. Then it plays a little NGage logo animation (mostly just red on black). Then it goes to the phone's default home screen. Whee. That's what the QD does, anyway.

Based on the systems I own I would have to say the Dreamcast followed closely by the GameCube. The X-Box is just horrible.
The first game I owned for the Playstation was Tomb Raider. The PS start up always reminds me of that game. The music in the start up just matched the game so well.

Hm.. PSX startup sound sounds like a dialup modem? Is there diffrent sound from the european and USA PSX? On mine its just a small "music" sound on startup.
My favorite startup is NES. No startup at all, saves time ;)
But from the list I guess I go for Neo Geo. That is pretty cool. PSX and PS2 arent bad either :)

I always get excited with the AES start up screen. Just seeing that 330 mega max pro-spec gear gets me pumped. I also like the Japanese Saturn start up. I think its better than the US start up.

I like the alternate gamecube start ups, the ones where you hold down the Z button on controller one or the one where you hold down the Z button on 4 controllers.
I like the Dreamcast startup as well. Next would be my Amiga 500, that floppy disk is too cool.

I like gamecube for its animated precense and its cartoony audio, its just fun to watch and listen to. I also like the jaguar one for the roar.

I love the Sega noise on the Japanese Mega CD so damn much.
DC is definetely up there though.
PSX / PS2 ones piss me off, since you get to hear them 500 times trying to get your disc to load.

the psp startup all the way... the little blue lines and the wave motion are great
The dreamcast one is good too, but I have heard it how many million times ;)
Damn, is the sega CD startup that long @_@ geez

I would have to go with the genesis, which wasn't on the list to vote for. I just really like the singing of ...Sega... I really liked that. Also, the fact that every single game had a different one is neato.

I'd vote for the GP32, which also isn't on the list. It's just so gosh darn happy.

I love the Sega CD start-up. The Sega logo, Sonic flicks stars at it, then a low-key "saaaayyy-gaaaaahhhh" tune. Then the REAL music begins. The Sega CD logos spoins and twirls over a space scene while an incredible theme song plays. First time I saw it, it was just magical to me. Sometime I turn my Sega CD on without a game, just so I can see and hear that start-up sequence.

DC is probably my favorite that i can remember. i agree with the PSone being kind of grating, especially with shitty speakers. the ps2 kind of gets annoying, but that's probably because i've heard it a billion times.

NeoGeo I like the little ditty.
Saturn, I just enjoy it.

I have to say PSP but the closest one was Dreamcast, I think Dreamcast is #1 and for the love of god Nintendo Fanboys just give up already... gamecube xbox & ps2 have lame startups..... (my opinion only..lol)

Does anybody else get creeped out by the ambient noise for the Xbox dashboard? Reeeeally quiet alien noises that can barely be heard over some computerish white noise. Gives me the willies if I leave it on for too long.

#1. DREAMCAST of course. Even now it brings me back to when the DC was the answer to all my gaming prayers ;) I was soo bored with PSone before DC came along and jump started the 128-bit Gen with a BIG BANG :eek 2: incredible SMOOTH 3-D graphics faaaar more advanced than what was the standard at the time excellent AAA games Soul Calibur and RE:Code Veronica mmmm gaming heaven all the way :D
#2.Sega Saturn: reminds me of all the loong hours I spent playing Dayeeeetona! and the arcade perfect Saturn port of Streetfighter Alpha 2.
#3. PS2: yeah ive heard it a million times also but have gotten used to it and for some reason actually like it now after all these years :hmm:
#4. Gamecube: luved this one first time I saw it just made the GC Feel like a Nintendo system unlike the N64 wich felt like an unfinished console for some reason.
#5.PSone brings back lots of old memories. some bad (brown jaggie graphics everywhere) but mostly good MGS and RE oh yeah and Final Fantasy but my fav was part 9 not 7 ;)

My two picks aren't on the list...
#1 - JVC X'Eye, it plays the Japanese MegaCD BIOS music if I remember properly. Anyway, it's my favorite startup screen for a few reasons: I looks like a corny screensaver from the early 90's, one of my friends thought it was some XBox proto when they saw the startup screen (with the big X) for the first time, and the surprise it gave me to see it pop up when I brought my X'Eye home from the flea market - it was only $3 after all.
#2 - NeoGeo Pocket Color, just the little tune it plays and how "NEOGEO POCKET" forms from scatered pixels swirling downward toward the center. It always makes me smile. LOL
#3 - TurboDuo, clean and to the point. PUSH RUN BUTTON! :D

Damn, is the sega CD startup that long @_@ geez
No, that's the little animation that plays if you boot the system up without inserting a disc. It only plays for a few seconds if there's a disc inside.
Oh, and Dreamcast, followed very closely by the European Mega-CD model 2 BIOS. I love the abstractness of the background =P

Damn Ive always wanted one of those that or a SegaCDX or whatever it was called.
and 3$ damn that is a hell of a deal even better than the Sega Saturn I picked up at a flea market for 6$ only one controller and no hookups or games though but still worth it.
I also remember the Turbo-duos luanch up one of my friends had one I was soooo jealous

The SegaCDX is the little discman-sized Genesis + Sega CD. The JVC X'Eye is the US rework of the JVC Wondermega 2 - again, Sega Genesis + Sega CD. Only about 10,000 ever made just the same. :D

...not the best site on it but good enough.
The Cube ones. There'e the one that you get when you fire it up with the lid open....and the other one that you get when you fire it up with the lid closed and a disc in. I like watching the cube logo build itself.

Dreamcast. Matter of fact, I have it set up as my Windows boot-up sound.
PSX comes in close second.

I'll take the Saturn, allthough it's close call though, the SMS one is just so retro cool and the PS2 is sweet too, I just love my Saturn though. I hate the PSX one though it is so long and annoying, the worst though is the CD-i it is just boring and has no sound.
Great thread, I was going to start one of these sooner or later.

I'm going with the dreamcast, still my favorite. I liked the Jaguar one too, even though its kinda cheesy.

I have to say GameCube, mainly because it has alternate start-ups when you hold the Z button and when you hold the Z button on all 4 controllers. You can have much more fun with it.
I also liked any Genesis game (like Sonic 2) that sang "Se-ga!" before the title screen.

You're not alone, bud. It gets me too. At least my mod chip let me customize the intro "flubber" animation. I changed it all to a greyscale wireframe. Plus I can tell when I boot regularly, or boot to the chip.
<hr />
My favorite is the Dreamcast because it is subtile and can be skipped through. PS1 is harsh on the eyes and ears, but Sony really outdid themselves with the PS2 and PS3 intros.

I'm gonna have to go with the Jaguar. I always loved it's intro. And also the Jag CD's intro too, with it's VLM-styled start-up.

Runner up: The Odyssey 2.

I like the GameCube intro. Close behind are the Dreamcast and Saturn. The only reason I'd like the PSX startup is because I've played so many RPGs on there and it gets me into an RPG mood.

I'd say that the Saturn has the coolest startup screen (Flying polys that form the logo), followed by Famicom Disk System (Mario & Luigi fighting until you set the disk!)
#4. Gamecube: luved this one first time I saw it just made the GC Feel like a Nintendo system unlike the N64 wich felt like an unfinished console for some reason.
To me the Gamecube felt unfinished. I'd go into further detail on why, but then I'd be going off the main topic.

My top 5 are (in order):

2. Dreamcast
3. Neo-Geo
4. Playstation
5. Playstation 2
Runner Ups:

Gameboy Advance

Man, it's hard to pick, but I have to go with Genesis. Simple, clean, and fun. Plus specific games had extra animations that were always entertaining. I also really liked the DC and Cube startups. I'm pretty ambivalent about the others.
I really dislike the 'health and safety' reminders for the DS and Wii system startups (and the Wii's wrist strap reminder screen). Definitely my least favorite.

I forgot to mention the Wonderswan screen. It's easy to forget because it's so brief, but that's why I like it. Unlike any other system, it is short enough to never get in the way of some instant gaming.
