Someone at the corporate suites of Gamestop Inc. finally looked at a balance sheet and thought, "Hmm...we're giving $40 in credit for a pair of games we normally give $5 total in trade-in value for....what's wrong with this picture?"
The upshot is that Gamestop has "adjusted" their January trade-in promotion....instead of any 2 non-sports GC, X-Box or PS2 titles gets you $40 in credit towards certain titles releasing in January, the 2 games now have to have a Gamestop trade-in value (not price, but what they normally give you in trade) of at least $10 each....oh well.
Someone finally woke up...but not before I got my brand new PS2 The Getaway for $5 in trade-in value. ;)

My Babagges has a new sale on mostly common PSX titles (Tomb Raider, non-GH THPS2, Syphon Filter and others) for $9.99.

I was pretty pissed to learn that they were going to renege on their original promotion guidelines. Sure, they didn't think it through and were losing their asses on the deal, but who's fault is that? If they were concerned about people really taking advantage of the deal by trading in otherwise worthless games like FantaVision and Ridge Racer V, they should have made an exclusion list like EB does when they run trade in promotions. When I was first made aware of the deal, I explicitly asked "Does this include the Greatest Hits games and old titles?" I was told yes, as long as they weren't pre-2003 sports titles or wrestling games. Someone clearly wasn't thinking when the plan was put into action, and now everyone suffers. :bad-words:
The company sent out an email telling us that we were to turn away games that allowed people to exploit the promotion. There had been many instances of customers and employees alike taking cheap games off the shelf, buying them, and trading them right back in. I can understand putting a stop to a shady practice like that, but it also meant turning away customers who actually paid good money for their games, which have now depreciated in value. I created an exclusion list based on a selling price of less than $15, and there were 60 games on the list, many of which were big sellers in their day.
The change is in effect from this point out, so if you've already hopped on board, congratulations. You came out ahead.
As an employee, I'm unhappy about the decision, and I understand that customers won't like it either. They can add it to their "Why I hate Gamestop" list.

LOL Butta!
Do you realize that every time you post that message to Kaine23 you are in fact doing the +1 post count spam yourself?
Ah, or perhaps that is your intention, the sheer irony of it all is the brilliance of your message.
Or perhaps THIS is a +1 post count spam post, and everything ELSE is legit!
*feels dizzy*
