I plan on giving it a try, eventhough it does not seem like my type of game. All of the good reviews just say "play me!"

I was at my local GameStop a few weeks ago and I just happened to walk by the DS kiosk. As soon as I walked by these dogs started barking at me - just begging me to play with them. I couldn't resist and I must say that it was quite fun, I can't wait to try out the full version.

Well, I played the demo and about 17 seconds after picking up the stylus, I was talking baby talk to a virtual Golden Retriever. Its fun and since I'm already married, I really don't need to worry about looking like a dork in public.

This is the first game that has me seriously interested in getting a DS. And I'm not kidding. It's creative, strange and looks like a blast, all at the same time. Seeing how I could get one with the game for about $100 total, it has been VERY tempting...
But I need some more games first. I can't wait to hear about it.
By the way, anyone see the online commercials for the DS lately? I just saw one before seeing a movie this weekend, and it was really good... It made the online feature look very, very interesting.

Yeah, I'm glad I fianlly got a used DS last month. Between this, Lunar, and the new Castlevania game, I feel there's enough coming out to make me happy for my buy.
At first I was on the fence about this game, but when I hear it was going to have a Boxer -- my favorite dog breed -- I was hooked. :D
I don't think I'm going to tell anyone except for the people on here that I'm playing it, though..... LOL

I doubt that I'll buy one of them, but I don't think it has anything to do with the game questioning my sexuality.

yeah, I know this is a "for the guys" question, but I'll add input anyways.
I had a customer in my store the other day, and I asked him if he wanted to order Nintendogs. He just kinda looked at me and said "Isn't that, you know, like a chick game?"
Out of all my pre-orders for the game, *1* is for a female. Every other person who ordered it from me is male. I had one guy (typical burly-jock-football-abercrombie) walk up to me in a strut, and in a loud booming voice: "I'd like to order a Chihuahua, please". I had to surpress a laugh on that one... :P

On one hand the premise sounds sort of boring, on the other it does sound like a good use of the DS's capabilities and I'd like to see how it plays.
However if they made a Nintenkitties I'd be all over it. :P

I'm not really sure what this game is all about, but it doesn't look like it's for me.
Someone help me out, but I'm thinking it's like a virtual pet or The Sims, neither of which I like.
Or, is it geared more toward the multiplayer where I have to walk around and find other players? Maybe you can walk around Tokyo and bump into people playing their DS, but I live in the suberbs, we don't even have sidewalks. Where would I happen upon others playing their DS? Maybe the mall or something, but I can't walk around the mall waiting for my DS to bark!

I thought it was like Dogz for the DS. Virtual pet.

You need to sort out your priorities. If you’re not the type to put faux-canines ahead of a career or a social life, you’re just not the type of person whom I should take time to convince, so poo-on-you! I on the other hand loved Animal Crossing and can’t wait for a new girlish pass-time. I’m thinking with my noodle here, on account of my brain being impounded for improper use.

Will someone please explain to me what exactly the big deal is? I mean, really, I was playing Dogz and Catz nearly twn years ago, and I had tamagotchi like all the other losers when those were big. Who wants to explain to me how this is so new and revolutionary and exciting?

I just read this review from gamespy, and it seems to be one of the best reviews I have read yet. Instead of being like the other reviews it clearly states all of the games flaws quite well. After reading this review I have decided I am going to hold off on buying this game, as it seems just how I expected it to be:

Nope. I've never been interested in this game. Here's some things thats turned me off from it:
1: It don't like dogs. I never have, probably ever will.
2: Looks boring to me, I mean come on people, just get a real dog.
Of course I've only played at 10 seconds of the demo, I may change my mind if I ever play the actual game, but probably not.
Also, about the tv ad for this game, seems like it says it's saying "play nintendogs and have all these hot chicks!" whats the chances your going to get a girl by playing a game?

Most women are impressed with my mad Contra skills. I'd be afraid if I played Nintendogs that women would be fighting over limbs. 8-)
LOL LOL
Seriously though, if Nintendogs gets as big as it seems to be, they'll likely Pokemon the hell out of it and make Nintenkittens, Nintenhamsters, Nintengoldfish, Nintenantelope, and Nintengroundsloth.
