How does the CBS version of Victory differ from the regular version in graphics? Sound? And is it true that the Quarks are in fact, released? Any screenshots of the CBS version?

It always seemed to me that the regular version was rushed out, incomplete.

I've got it, but I don't have my Colecovision hooked up. If no one finds out sooner I can bring it to CGE and plug it into someones Coleco.

It's true, I tell you! TRUE! Quarks everywhere! :D
(Of course, the sprites are still kind of smallish compared to the MAME version, but it's not like games could possibly be arcade perfect back then.)

The game requires the Roller Controller, so if you don't have one of those handy, you're out of luck.

Luckily, I do have the Roller Controller (modified so it can supply power to the Steering Controller), and I have the regular version of Victory.

I'm thinking right now about how the characters look in that version; I'm curious to know how the CBS version differs. Keep in mind that screenshots are the only way I can find out, unless I get the game on cartridge or someone gives a description.

Sadly, there's no way I can make it to the CGE this year. So if the game is there, I cannot try it- hopefully, someone will get a photo or screenshot and put it here somewhere.

why hasnt anyone dumped a "cbs" version of the game yet then?

That's a good question. Maybe nobody wanted to bother? Or maybe few people are aware of any differences? Most likely, those cartridges would be overseas, Europe.

What, this dump I have isn't the CBS version?

[Crashes computer several times trying to get ADAMEM running]

Ick... It's so... boring! No quarks, indeed!

If this is indeed the older version of Victory that I've got here, then I can say that the CBS version is almost exactly the same, aside from the addition of the quarks, paratroopers, and scouts. I'm pretty sure the end-of-level theme is looped once on the CBS version, though, and I think the "Victory is Yours" screen had blue bars on the top and bottom of the screen (letterbox style, very classy).

But are the graphics any better?

Naah, it's pretty much the same otherwise.

I always thought it looked pretty good compared to other ColecoVision games, at least. I've heard several people say that the CV had rotten support for scrolling, but aside from some minor flickering at the edge of the screen, Victory looks fine.

Necropost!

There's still no sign of this dump after all these years, is there?

And there's at least one other thread about this...I'm going to have to work on getting this dumped.

Necropost X2!

That other recent thread (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=150197) suddenly reminded me that I never heard the end of this one.

I think the reason for that is it doesn't exist...

Did you miss the part where I said that I played it? :hmm:

We also have a user that played Donkey Kong with all 4 levels years ago on the NES at this board. ;)

Come now, this is also supported by ye olde ColecoVision FAQ that has been floating around since antiquity.

Still no sign of this lately, is there?

I figured it might be worth querying again what with all the exciting new business of the homebrew Super Game Module being released.

What crazy times these are. Duke Nukem Forever, Black Mesa Source, Retro City Rampage, The Fool and His Money...

And now, finally, on the eve of the apocalypse, CBS Victory appears.

I admit that I only skimmed this thread the first time, and didn't get what was so neat about it, but re-reading it, and the Atari Age thread, I get it now, and yeah, it's pretty cool. I'm curious to see if they find any differences with the other CBS titles!
