I didnt see this topic, mods let me know if there is one already but I noticed these bundles on EBGames.com:

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categories/systems/xbox360/default.asp?site=NLF0823

$700 and you dont even get to pick the 4 games? crazy!

Also notice it says that if you dont have the hard drive you cant play original xbox games.

Ok, what the fuck is this that they have listed?

Play & Charge Kit (for extra controller)
Rechargeable Battery Pack (for included controller)

I sure as hell better not need one of those for EACH controller.

This is why I stay away from EB or Gamestop unless it's a 2D fighter or some small time release that I must have on day one (Best Buy and the like usually get those kind of games late or not at all)

Don't bet on it. J Allard said that the chance of an Xbox price drop before 2007 is incredibly unlikely considering they're never able to meet demand.

Microsoft may not reduce prices right away but you'll find them at most pawn shops within 6 months.

*Thinks of all the Saturn shooters he can buy with $700.00*

Yeah, that's better. :-D

I will drag my balls thru three miles of broken glass before I spend 700.00 or 560.00 an a bundle. Eb must be on crack. Let them try that bull I guarantee that will end real quick.

The systems will hardly move at that price. People just don't have that type of money laying around for a video game system. They will stack up like the $250.00 psps.

I plan on buying the 360 400 hundred version and the new morrowind. I can't justifie spending that much in one sitting without it being something like the mortage or rent or buying a new car.

This reminds me of the night the Playstation 2 came out. I went on ebay that night to see what was happening, people were bidding those damn things up to $600.00 and higher. So I'm sure there's a market for people who will pay a stupid ammount of money for the "ULTIMATE" package in the latest whizbang status symbol technology. Spoiled rich kids who's parents get them cars for their birthdays, you know.

This'll be just like the last generation, then. Only thing missing is a free year of GamePro and a t-shirt.

So! Buy your system at BestBuy, and your games/controllers at EB or Gamestop. Get over it and move on.

No need. I just don't see the demand for XB360 as high as the demand was for PS2. Other than the PS2 (and perhaps the 64), it's been easy to get a system within a month of launch (of course, I actively hunted for a PS2, and ended up getting it *six months* after launch).

Everyone keeps bringing in the hype about Sony's and Microsoft's new systems, but what about Nintendo's. Sure, everyone stomps on their system like it's trash and full of kids games, but still. What if Nintendo has their's out for a cheeper price and a nice selection of games? Personally, I don't own a PS2 or Xbox, but have had a GameCube since last Feb. and enjoy it just as I do all my other systems. It may not have the wide selections as other systems do but playing your cards right it has some pretty decent games that are fun as hell. The main reason why I haven't gotten a PS2 or Xbox yet is because they are still a decent chunk of change to buy when I know they will get cheeper once their next generation is released.

The Xbox 360 bundle is a joke. If they are trying to do a bundle, they are just trying to cash in, as the Microsoft bundle of $400 keeps the game stores from making addon sales. As for the Xbox staying at $150, I doubt it becuause I think that Microsoft is going to stop production, let the console become obsolete, clearanced out, and FORCE people to either buy a used Xbox or a 360 to play Xbox games. I also heard that Microsoft is thinking about selling the technology to other companies so that they could make their own xbox console. Either way, the price of an Xbox will come down, I would bet a game on it.

Well, I can't be the only one that thought, upon seeing that bundle:

"So that's how they plan on actually selling more than a handful of copies of Kameo..."

Looks like a bad deal to me, especially considering you don't need all the extra garbage. It's no secret that retailers don't make any money on the consoles whatsoever, but it's pretty dirty to force such large bundles, especially at the launch, when you're almost guaranteed some accessory/software sales along with the console purchase.

What makes you think the PS3 will be release that late? Sony isn't stupid, even with their dominance they really can't wait that along. From everything I heard it's likely to be a spring 2006 release, with Revolution not far behind it.

Yeah, 3 miles is quite a distance :eek 2:

As far as these prices LOL Seriously, 700$ is nearly 2 months payment for my new 2005 truck, and close to 1 month house payment. I cannot imagine shelling out that much at once for a gaming system. Man, looks like its going to be me and my Gamecube, PS2, and SP for a while @_@

Tie ratios, tie ratios, tie ratios....

The more games and accessories these stores sell with the systems, the more product they are able to secure in the future. People will buy these bundles regardless - the holiday season is approaching and there will be a run on them no matter what. Unlike when 3d0 and Neo Geo were released people have more options with trade-ins etc to knock down the price. Plus the 25-35 year olds who are going to be purchasing these have a lot of disposable income.

Supply is low and demand will be high. These crazy bundles worked with the PS2/GC/Xbox launches, at it's going to be "the" present. This is really all Square Enix's fault for delaying Final Fantasy XII.

These prices are depressing. I cant afford to buy new games as it is, (last game i bought was FIFA 05, and wont get another one till Zelda: TTP)

Looks like another generation of buying very little games :(

Only thing we can do, is not buy the new XBOX 360, if no one buys it, than MS will have to drop the price, It happended here in Australian when XBOX was released. It was about $700, and after a few months MS dropped the price to about $400 and packed in 2 games. Than XBOX took off.

OMG! $700, trust me, even PS3 bundle will not sell at this price, what are EB/Gamestop smoking?

I understand it's expensive to develop games/system, but there's only so much consumers can fork out, a system with a game is what stores should expect people to buy. I think it'll turn out the same just like PSP, where stores force people to buy games/accessories with it and most people will just say forget it.

Trust me, PS3 will not have the same levels of frenzy as PS2, as 1: people learn from the past not to over spend 2: economy is not in solid shape 3: stores will shove all the bundles down to gamers' throats.

Amazingly there're always people foolish enough trying to resell them on eBay for huge profit, it'd be interesting to see the launch of XB 360 and PS3.

Seriously It has been proven that there is a limit to what americans will pay out for a video system. I don't think microsoft will go for it. It hurts the bottom line (getting the system into the hands of gamers.

I work and make a decent wage and I can't imagine paying upwards of 700.00+
In the psx era people were paying huge import prices to see the next great thing. In the ps2 era The leap was huge and consumers could see the difference. and they would grit and bear the ps2 bundles at 500.00.

Now this time I just don't see that must have attitude attached to the xbox 360 or ps3. Maybe it because there is still good life left in the current systems. I think the bundles are way beyond Americans price point. I could be wrong

You say they can’t force a bundle? Look at what Circuit City did with the PS2; they forced you to buy a shitty bundle and gave you no other option. Take it or leave it. Other stores will follow suit. Some will sell simple packages but I bet many will pull this. My friends, I feel this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to console launch insanity. It’s only going to get worse. Think of how it will be when the PS3 hits the streets….that’s scary.

And, for any of you who think that the launch PS3 won’t hit these prices, think again. Sony has a track record for being the most expensive and they’ll prove it with the PS3. Expect to see the same prices as the 360 launch. I doubt they’ll go much higher but it will probably be dollar for dollar.

Sony is going to sit back and watch. Whatever works for the 360 they will emulate including selling price. If the 360 sells for $399, the PS3 will sell for $399, plain and simple.

I bought the Xbox bundle at Circity Shitty on release day. I didn't preorder, I just called around and found one. It was about $450 and I got the Xbox system, an extra controller, 3 games (PGR, Amped, NFL Fever 02). My wife about had a hemmorage when I told her, but hey it was the one big purchase for the year.
After all this time, I still have my launch day console, games, controllers and have got my money's worth.
That said, I can't justify spending this kinda money on the 360. I still enjoy the hell outta my Xbox and am still buying games for it as I can afford. I'll likely keep doing so until they quit putting out good games for the Xbox.
Once the price point on the 360 drops, I may reconsider getting one.

Captain J

I call these launch prices:
XBOX 360:$399 (obviously)
PS3:$399
Revolution:$199 (which means you will have more extra money to download third party nes games! ;) )

Bundle idea comes from retailers, not Microsoft or Sony, I understand stores don't make profits from sales of systems, but they should ask gamers to buy just one game of their choice, nothing more, and consider it as investment (gamers will come back to buy more games/accessories).

Spending $2K on a launch bundle is just silly. No way anyone would come close to playing all games before the prices are dropping. So it's a waste.
