I've been looking for a LCD tv, under a 1000, and the specs on the syntax olieva 32" are better than 90% of the other brands that sell for twice the money, @_@ i found several places on the net selling them for 899 plus 80 or free shipping. does anybody have these tvs, or know anything about them. ! 1200:1 contrast ratio is awesome for games

The best place to go for info on TVs is the AVS Forums (http://www.avsforum.com/). The LCD and Plasma forum in particular has many posts about Olevia LCD TVs. LCD prices have been steadily dropping for the past year or so, and I recently saw an article saying they supposed to drop even more sharply this fall. Personally I am going to wait until after the holidays before considering buying, both for price reasons and because there are still new displays coming out this fall. Some other "non-name brands" to look at include Westinghouse, Sceptre (which is just coming out with a 37" 1920x1080 display for less than $2k), and BenQ.
