View Full Version : Nintendogs - What did you name your dog and why?

Simple enough, what did your dog and why did you name it that?

I chose Pee Wee because the dog is so small (Miniature Daschaund), and the name Shorty just seemed too cliche.

Ein. Its a corgi, cowboy bebop, obvious choice. Now its not so obvious because voice recognition doesn't like the name Ein. Hopefully I can rename him somehow.

Snoopy, he's a beagle.

He's got a beautiful coat, and won the Obedience contest (Beginners)

He likes to walk around the block and mark his territory. Not to fast on the frisbee catch, and I have ahrd time training him during the day because other dogs at the park are much fast and more agile than he is.

My neighbor Matthew informed me that I should pick up Snoopy's poop. I think Matt is a prick, because he plays his music too loud anyway. I hope he steps in my dog turds.

I named him Snoopy, because, well, it's just damn cute to name him after a peanuts character. My wife will verify that I have been talking about SNoopy for months, even though the game was just released yesterday.

I wanted a beagle named SNoopy. Nintendogs had a beagle, so I got my virtual pet.

On a seperate note, there is a guy at work that's always trying to convince me about the end of the world being our advancements in technology and what not. So I took Snoopy to work, and he was making fun of the game at first, but wanted to try it out after he saw me blowing bubbles. Fromt hat moment on, he's been spinning his theories about the virtual future, and how the Nintendo DS is actually helping shape it.

I'm not nearly as good at the explanation, as I don't care and think he's paranoid. But he made a pretty good case using Nintendogs as a reference.

Well, I dont have the game, but if I did, I would get a German Shepard named either Sarge, or Princess, because those are the names of my fallen canine companions.

I named my Chiuaua Shivers. I wrote a bit about it here (http://www.livejournal.com/community/blend_spotting/6693.html), but I must warn you that link is mighty NSFW. Or so I tell myself...

My dog's name is Bebop. I was going to do the whole Ein recreation (per above) but then I wanted to do the Shiba Inu instead.

Bebop is a good name too, and it's easy for the dog to understand.

I absolutely love this "game."

I named mine Gary, for the sole reason that when I was thinking of a name, I glanced at my toy shelf and saw I had a kids meal toy of Spongebob's pet snail, Gary.

Good 'nuff. LOL

When I get my copy of Nintendogs (still haven't done so), I will name my pup Zappa, because that's what my RL dog name was (however, I don't know which breed I'll pick -- it'll depend on which version of the game I pick up).

Good band. Do you also listen to Captain Tractor?

Oh, and although I own a DS now, I still haven't bought Nintendogs. No one's given me any reason why this game should be any different than, says, Dogz for PC that came out during the Win 3.1 era, or any other virtual pet, so I don't get why it's so popular.

HOWEVER

just because I "don't get it", don't take this to be a flame. Actually, I'm thrilled that you people are enjoying the game this much, and it's FLYING off shelves around here. Even our "ghetto" EB in a nasty part of cleveland, that usually only sells Madden, sold out of their first shipment on day one. It makes me happy any time Nintendo get some success, recently, as they're so far behind. Plus, this goes to show....you NEVER underestimate Miyamoto.

2 months ago I had to say a last farewell to my 2 pugs of 15 years. It was very hard......

But now I have a little virtual sunshine in my life.... my little boy pug I have affectionately named Otis in honor of my real life companion I just lost.

I really like this game. The funny thing was when I went to buy it last night, everywhere I went was sold out of "Daschunds and friends" but all had copies of the other 2.

I got a corgi cuz I love Ein from Cowboy Bebop, but I named him Spock because I am a huge Star Trek fan and I really wanted to give my dog a Star Trek name. I was gonna do a video game name, but I already have a parakeet named Navi in real life and the video game name would be too obvious. But it fits him perfectly, cuz he has big pointy ears! Heehee

Last week i was all ready to buy the DS, Advance Wars and Nintendogs and get my pug FINK (short for sphincter) upo and running. But alas, Katrina donations have taken my DS fund (as well as my 360 fund, and the HD fund, etc. etc. etc.). Maybe after the holidays FINK and I will be introduced.

Annoying customer. Yes, it would have worked better if it was Nintencats... but you do what you have to.

I named my labrador Inky.

But because I've only found time to play Nintendogs late at night, Inky responds to "key", and sits when I say "it". Bah!

Felix! It's a male lab, and it was the first thing that came to my mind. I like this game a lot. I really think Nintendo did a good job incorporating all of the DS's features into the title. This game is all interaction. The only things I can think of that I would want that are not in this title are a breeding sim, and more breeds of dogs.

I ended up with a gray pug named Jak. My real dog's name is Jackson, so....plus I'm a huge Jak fan. Anyways, I noticed you can also purchase brown pugs, which is the color of my real dog. Needless to say I ended up with two pugs. One Jak and the other Jackson. Except I usually only play and train Jak. I thought it would be silly to only teach the other dog sit, since that's the only command besides "eat quickly," my real dog knows.

My dog is a brindle/brown boxer, named Koopa.

My biggest gripe with Nintendogs is that the dog breeds available are almost all foofy, lame toy breeds. :/
