I'm sorry for posting this, but considering the circumstances, I figured I'd let anyone get this instead of me.

Remember this?
http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=68808

I bought that DVD set from phylosophist, and go them today. Well imagine my surprise when I found out that they were bootlegs... the seller did not mention they were bootlegs (though I figure that was more because of naivete in her part, as well as mine for not asking), and I bought them. So I got them today, and wow, they're bootlegs. I discussed it with the seller but she said she didn't know, so eh.

I decided to put them up here. I'm sure that someone else here wants them. Here's some pictures.

I'm asking for $8 (to recoup my losses) + applicable shipping. I'd send this via Priority Mail from Zip Code 92231.

Thanks.

PS:
I posted this separately from my other thread because that one will be undergoing a major overhaul in the future. I'll likely let it die and start over with the stuff I've sold removed.

PPS:
I decided to add this info without bumping the topic.

I posted this at another board and the post got deleted without warning. Actually I -got- a warning, but I wasn't even asked what was up. I just went through the rules and they specify that the sale of -backup software- (ya know, CD/DVD-Rs) is not allowed. However, I've seen bootleg carts be sold here at times, which made me think this item was okay.

If a mod thinks this is against the rules... you know, me selling a bootleg DVD, please tell me. As I said over there (and here) I am -not- trying to scam anybody. Most eBay sellers just do this and don't mention the legitimacy of the items they sell, so.

Okay? Okay.

I had no idea these were bootlegs, I know nothing about Anime DVD's as I stated in my selling post. I would never intentionally sell something like this if I knew. I had pictures of the DVD's and did answer all of the questions the person had that I sold it to. I apologize for this mix-up.

I have refunded your paypal payment Kitsune so you don't have to sell this "bootleg" set to anyone else. Your shipping and everything has been refunded so your not out anything except some frustration for which I am sorry.

If someone wants to buy these, go for it. I'm glad they are being properly advertised as bootlegs now.

BTW, how is one to know this? I tested each of the DVD's and they worked fine. I just don't want to make this mistake again if I were to come upon any Anime DVD's.

Well I've refunded your refund. You sold me items that you had no clue about, so it's not you who's at fault.

Do me a favor and smack whoever sold these to you, okay?

Anyway, the easiest way to figure out if they're bootlegs is to see the subtitles listed in the box. If they say "Subtitles: English / Chinese" there's a 99% chance it's a bootleg. Another way to figure it out is the region. Most boots come encoded in Region 0.

Then, there's the fact that the box has Chinese scripture. Japanese is easy to recognize as they use less complex ideograms than Chinese.

And a lack of UPC can help you figure out its legitimacy as well.

If you have any doubts regarding the item, do a search for the company that manufactured the discs. That's how I found out about Ever Anime/SonMay, the biggest CD bootleggers to come out of Taiwan.

Edit:
And I already told you, I'm not angry at YOU. Stuff happened and it made me take it out on you. So I'm sorry.

Are they watchable? I mean, is the dub good enough to enjoy? I got screwed on eBay with a bunch of boots. They are almost funny trying to read the sub-titles with all the misspelled words and not matching the dialogue.

I really don't know. I haven't dared watch them yet.

I can watch a bit of the episodes and check 'em out if you want.

Kay, here's the deal.

The encoding on the first disc at least is quite good. The colors are a wee bit dark, but it looks great. I saw very few compression artifacts. There's a bit of blurring when there's a lot of quick movement in the screen (like pan shots).
The audio is good, too. Seems to be stereo, but I could be wrong. However, on DVD2, it seems that the colors are not stable, so they look like an old VHS copy.

The subs are -not perfect-. But they are decent. An example from Episode 1: This is a speech that some bigwig general is giving.

Bigwig General:
We men are depressed for so many years
Now we've got a chance to revenge
And nothing is more important than revenge now
Take a look at our cast
If we can fight in unity
It is of a fat chance that we may lose
Paradise is in our hands
I ask you for the last time
Do you want to revenge or nor?

Random subtitle:
anime2001@us.sina.com

Crowd:
Yes, sure!

General:
O.K. This is also my last urge
Hope that you keep your promise

So yeah. Decent, readable and understandable, but definitely not perfect. Heck... they seem like they were written by people who studied English at my college (which I am sad to say, sucks). I don't know if there's going to be random ads all over, though. :p

DVD1 has six episodes, DVD2 has four, and DVD 3 has four as well.
