Hey all,
I want to have my xbox be my region 2 dvd player,
where is the best online site to buy a region 2 dvd playback kit?
I am looking for a reliable site to pick one up from.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

You can't buy a region 2 playback 'kit' because the region is hardcoded into the system.

To play region 2 DVDs you either need a modified XBOX, modified DVD player, or a DVD player which has a hidden feature to change regions.

this site can help you out with finding DVD players which can switch regions. Best Buy carries a Cyberhome model for around $40 that can switch easily.

EDIT: I hate you scooter. Stab. Face. :-D

You can also buy a Pro Action Replay. One of the things it allows you to do is play DVD's from anywhere in the world by setting the region.

I've heard this before as well but it simply isn't true. I've done it myself. I have a North American, USA-purchased Xbox and I purchased my Microsoft DVD Kit in Japan. My Xbox plays Region 2 DVDs now exclusively. One caveat: The first time you start your Xbox with a DVD-kit dongle, you've set it for life. If you've already used a Region 1 kit, a Region 2 kit won't work on your Xbox.

What region are the DVDs that come with CUBE magazine from Europe? I'm curious, as I use my Xbox as my normal DVD player (for region 1 DVDs), yet I've been able to use those CUBE DVDs, which I had been led to believe are region 2. I'm not using an official Xbox DVD kit, if that matters...

That is a serious question... but I do realize that this topic is VERY old.

You're right, I just now noticed the date!

O_O LOL

Adam, why did you reply to such a OLD thread? :D

But to expand what I said -- I still think the easiest and cheapest thing to do is to just get a Pro Action Replay from Datel. Among it's more primary uses of saves and cheat codes, it also allows you to specify a region for your DVD player and then reverts to normal when you're finished. I'm assuming this works for the XBox one the same way, cause I only have the PS2.

Oh, I see. Now it makes sence. LOL

Okay, here's a better question -- why did'nt anyone answer him back when it was first POSTED? Almost EVERY thread here gets a comment. Unless there were'nt any options back then? :/
