Has anyone tried out this unofficial(?) version of Stella for the PSP? I can't try it until I get home today, but I was wondering what anyone's thought are on it yet..
Supposedly, about 80% of the games are playable, some of them are very fuzzy. But, at least it's a start, right?
I've also messed around with the early release of the Atari Lynx (Handy) emulator. The speed on it is a bit slow, but it's looking good too.

For a quick-and-dirty port, it's pretty darn playable as is, and the author says she'll be optimizing it in the next couple of days, which I assume means multiple display modes, ZIP-file support, ROMs in any directory, etc.
There's also a new program that lets you fool your PSP into thinking it's 1.52 or 2.00, which means you can boot newer UMD games (such as Namco Museum Battle Collection, which requires 1.52) without actually updating your firmware and losing your 'brews.

Yeah, I read this too on PSP Updates today but has anyone confirmed that it actually works? I was reading the comments about it and it seems that even though a newer game can boot up in 1.50, there will still be performance issues with it. Has anyone tried it yet?

I used the program to "upgrade" to 1.52, booted up my review copy of PoPoLoCrois (which requires 1.52), and "downgraded" back to 1.50--but I haven't yet played the game beyond the title screen, so I don't yet know if gameplay will crash it. I was just impressed (and relieved) that the program worked at all.
EDIT: I've played into PoPoLo, saved a game, etc., and I haven't encountered any problems with running 'brews or "downgrading." The 1.52 update doesn't add functionality to the firmware, unlike the 2.00 update, so games that require 2.00 (and you know GTA will be one of 'em) might not work as well.

Why do I feel like I am going to have to buy a second PSP if I want to play the games that are coming out, but retain the ability to play emus? Whatever Sony did to prevent homebrew software on 1.51 and up systems must have beeen good since it has yet to be cracked.
