I am trying to find more info on this interesting hardwarde device. Does anyone here have one of these? I know it is a TV Reciever, but it is made by sega and sports the Sega CLUB logo. It looks new and hardly used. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I found it in a place that time forgot, a local thrift store that usually has crap... Obviously not today!

Can you post a pic? I know of a tv tuner for the Gamegear. Is that what you found?

Shown is an AlphStar receiver. They had a plastic "Sega Club" logo glued to the front near the card slot. "Sega Club" was a marketing tool. It meant absolutely nothing. The logos promptly fell off. The one in the photo was in the process of falling off. It was typical of the service, which went dark in August of 1997, leaving subscribers and dealers with worthless equipment. AlphaStar International acquired the assets of the AlphaStar DTH service and will use them to launch an Internet video and audio streaming service in June.
Looks like it was a satellite TV rreceiver....nothing at all to do with gaming as far as I can tell. I wonder wtf the Sega Club logo is doing on there...

Thank you for the info, as I wonder how many of these things are still around. It looks to me as I examine it closer that it can be hooked up to your phone line(possibly to surf the net?) and I cant believe I found it in the condtion I did. On a game related note, I appears to have been made by Sega themselves.
