I was just browsing an item at Electronic Media Online, the TV industry news rag's web site, and found this interesting tidbit about UPN's next season (edited for brevity's sake)...

Already, Ms. Ostroff has tapped an impressive list of big-name talent to develop shows for next season. They include . . . Carsey-Werner-Mandabach, which is producing an animated sitcom called "Game Over" about a family of video game characters.

Thought this was kind of interesting. Sounds like they're trying to stretch a clever Onion spoof into a weekly half hour. I give it about a six to eight week life span on the air (even though the producers in question are responsible for Roseanne, among other long-lasting sitcoms).

What does everyone else think of this? Perhaps some of us creatively-inclined folks should get in touch with them and offer our scripting services. After all...who better?

I wonder when it will air...This could be good, but since it will be on UPN I am not thinking it will be... :o :hmm: x_x

I'm intrigued, as well as fearful of what UPN will do with it. Will they shell out royalties and use known established VG characters? Is this where we find out that in real life, Max Payne is married to Lara Croft, and that Sonic is their bratty kid? Yeah, they could call it "Leave it to Sonic".

Or are they going to be an entirely made up family of videogame characters? If so, they'd better have some tight writing, because I could see that going down like the Hindenburg with blast processing.

Does anyone remember the old Nintendo game show? It had a cartoon during it with Big Foot (the monster truck) as one of the characters.

This latest video game type show has to be better then the one with Christopher Lloyd running around in a white suit.

Or most likely UPN will come up with carbon-copy facsmilies of well-known characters...

Feel the power! Video Power!
Yeah, I remember that piece of- uh, show. It was bad as a cartoon, and just as embarassing as a cheesy game show that made Starcade look like high art. You'll find a review of the second season of Video Power here, on my site:

I need to put a direct link to this, it's a great article. I just wonder what the heck happened to its author, Mickey Tveter.

They're welcome to try, but no video game sitcom could possibly top this:

@neko: Is Tveter implying that Ninja Gaiden II is a "lousy video game"? For shame!
