I went to Wal-Mart today and they had a demo up of the new Mario Baseball game (which I think comes out next week) so I played a short game, about 3 innings. I wound up winning 3-1 with Mario's team victorious over big bad Wario. I had fun though you obviously can't figure everything out about a game in such a short session. I haven't paid full price for a game since I bought a few games for my birthday back in early May so I'm thinking I'll get this. I always enjoy the Mario games, including his sports games.

Now I hear Mario will be playing soccer in November. That one I'm not so sure about... X_x

I want Mario Pool honestly, I'm semi interested in Mario Baseball though, but I think Power Tennis may be better.

Rog,
I played the same demo and really just wasnt suer about it. I couldn't get the charge it to do anything but make me pop out. The controls were fine, and its meant to be a fun game, but there was something I couldn't put my finger on it was lacking.

Famista with Mario Characters? SOLD!

Family Stadium is my favorite baseball game.

I actually didn't get any big hits myself...I think I may have gotten only singles, hence my relatively low score. I'll study it a bit more but will likely still get it. I wonder if they do stat-tracking? Probably not...and that would likely be a good thing.

I've just always thought that baseball as a sport doesn't lend itself very well to the "extreme" or "Mario"-type remixed sports games. Not enough free-range of player movement. I'm looking forward to soccer however; here's to hoping it will be the Nintendo World Cup of this generation.

When i first heard the info about Mario Superstar baseball i was like, "Fuck yeah. Finally a game that plays like good old Baseball Stars." You know, arcade-y fun.

Sadly after reading the reviews of the game i've lost much of my enuthisiam. The looks like it still has really fun gameplay, but i think it's lacking the content needed to justify a non-budget price tag. According to reviews the challenge mode is really short.

I was just gonna buy it, but now i think i'm gonna rent it and see if it's worth the purchase. It's definetly a game built for MP.

The Mario games will keep coming...as I mentioned, a soccer game is coming and so is Mario Party 7 (I think my last one so far was #4). When's the next Mario adventure game coming? I thought we'd have another by now.

Well, there's the new Mario & Luigi, and the new super mario bros games coming out on DS...

I played the same demo at Best Buy. This one moves real slooow. I know it's for kids, but fielders barely seem to be moving at times. I'll pass, though I do love some Mario Tennis.

I've played the demo a couple of times at our local Wal-Mart and, try as I might, I just could not get into it. It's seems like an OK game, but I just couldn't get any fun out of it.

However, my 11 year old son loves it to death and I have to practically drag him away from the demo when we leave. He's been asking for the game and I'm sure my wife will probably get it for him sooner or later.

I did wind up buying it, after all. Some of the observations made here are pretty accurate. The challenge mode is fairly short...you just build up your team until you're ready to play Bowser's team. Some will join your team and various members of your team will improve as the game goes along. Each time you beat Bowser, you're invited to play at a higher level. You can also play exhibition games in any of the 5 ballparks. I think the longest game is actually only 5 innings long.

I enjoy it but is it worth $50? Maybe not...except possibly to someone like me who's both a Mario and a baseball nut. Somehow I don't think I'll be as quick to buy his soccer game.

I just got this today. Since my friends and I play MVP on PS2 all the time, and we killed Mario Tennis for N64, I see this getting a lot of play. Baseball is fun. Baseball + Mario = a great time. I WAS hoping that exhibition mode would be 4-player (1 pitcher, 1 outfielder, 2 people alternating batting,) but oh well. It's still pretty darn fun.
