Not to condone piracy, but if you're in that much of a bind you can find a torrent and download it. You'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who will part with a $700 program for $60.

It's pretty easy going the torrent route, i'm sure someone will pm you? i'm not saying piracy is right but how many people can afford $600, $700, $800 for a graphics programme, although it is the best thing since sliced bread, i love it to bits i'm using PS CS2 and i'v had probs with it taking time loading and closing??

I bought my student version for $249. It's 100% legal, and it's the exact same program as the retail version. Only limitation is you cannot upgrade it to a higher version. Check education retail outlets.

This thread is running borderline at the mo, but I'm leaving it open for now.
Seriously though, everyone wants Photoshop but nobody stumps up for it seemingly. It's almost the best program out there, does a lot, that's why it costs the money.
But with the "me, me, me" culture spreading, people just want it and don't want to pay even though paying is worth it. Surely finding some similar alternative that's less money or free?
Student versions are good value. My brother had access to them when he was at uni for example. We're still using Photoshop 7 here at home; does the job for what we need!

The best free alternative is The Gimp - http://www.gimp.org/
Try it, you'll be very surprised.
